It did come with a extra gearbox and quite a lot of spares inc repair panels.

Its going to be a lot of work, just started inspecting it and there are a few odd bits. Rust holes in the usual places and in some places there is fibreglass wacked over rust holes lol

do love the plate though 'MPH' :)

loving these, not long did an audio install in one, Had to convert the fucker to 12v first. Had a very nice system in it.

ITs just came back from Kingfisher customs i believe now, Runing a very fast 2.4 turbo engine and pretty much brand new underneath, Will be mag featured when its 100% complete.

Turns out its not as solid as i once thought

Arrived an untouched stocker, apart from 12v conv. Now interior is out, wings are off, trim is off etc. Need to rent a garage so i can split chassis from body.

My rides 8)

  Whichever has fuel
I seriously lack the motivational skills required to undertake a project like this.

Fair play to you mate.

There was a beetle round telford once with a porsche engine in there.

It was very quick

guy I used to work with had a camper and a beetle but only 1 engine, he used to lift the engine out with a sawn off M&S trolley and swap them in about an hour tops lol

got fond memories of those my dad ran. the main one had all sorts in it - 356 engine (not as exciting as it sounds), IRS floorpan, pre-coloured FG wings imported from the US (one of which i remember scraping as i put it away in the garage - not popular). it was a '73 and i remember the plate he had on it 'VWW 1L' - he liked to think, "Volkswagen Werk 1973".

anyway - good luck with the welding! ;)

Big update

Body is off the chassis, and recently been round the country picking up more pannels inc windscreen corners, dash for a mate, heater channels, crossmembers, rear 1/4 panel

Firstly braced the body up to stop it warping when lifted

Lovly mate! i'm doing one myselve too, but mine's a '69.
It also suffers from rust at the front, you know the common area's.
Also put twin webers IDE-40 with 23mill venturi's on it, needless to say fuel consumption is shocking :)
