my car is poorly sick - help!

  No more clio's for me!
Started her up this morning, and she sounds rougher than a bang of nails. Runny extremely lumpy, as if someone has come along and removed the complete exhaust system.

Its also smoking a little bot more than usual out the back, and it stinks! :(

Whats wrong with it???

I think it could be the cat/exhaust, and from looking underneath the cat its jumping up and down at idol, like its lose or something :S

Dunno what to do really. :dapprove:

Would that make it run lumpy....it started ok. :S

It drove ok, just sound sh1te! and didn't have any response, almost like it was in ECU safe mode.

if the coil pack has gone then yes it would run like shite because it wouldn't be firing on all cylinders :) I'm no mechanic so I could be wrong but just trying to help out mate :)

Gaz's did this, and some how there was damp down the bloody plug holes! we had to take the top off the inlet and dry them out, it was fine one nite, missing its t*ts off the next day!

either coil pack (on the back of your inlet manifold) has packed up...excuse the pun. lol

or you have damp/moisture in the actual plug recesses.

take your IM off and whip the plugs out, give things a night indoors and try tomorrow. if it's still the same, it'll more than likely be the coil pack.

I've taken the coil pack off...seems ok to me, no moisture or anything, like that. How easy is the inlet to remove??

Anyone local to malvern with some techy know how??

dispack is here:-

It does sound like its not fireing on all cylinders.

Its easy to take the inlet off... just a couple of bolts and some sensors that need unplugging.

the manifold is easy mate, check ur leads as well they can rub on the back of the inlet manifold and arc out. manifold from the elbow from the throttle body, remove the coil pack there 2/4 10mm bolts under it or around there, remove the plug and breather from the thottle body dont think you need to disconnect from the inlet but if so it 4 10mm bolts and then the bolts along the front of the inlet disconnect the pressure sensor and anything else attached manifold off.

Right...got me mani off, checked the leads and the spark plug chamber/holes, nothing out of the ordinary. Gonna leave the mani and coil pack inside over night and see if it makes any difference??? :S

being an impatient sod, i decided to put my car back together...as all looked well and dry...still the same, so i'm guessing the coil pack is fcuked??

Is it ok to drive with the car is this condition, as i need to get it to the renault garage and thats about 7 miles away?? The car running really rich and producing a bit of smoke from the exhaust. :(

Hope its nothing more terminal??

One thing i can try is my mates clio, get his coil pack and try it in my clio, see if it makes any difference??

Other than that, i surpose i'd have to AA the car to the renault garage?
