My rusty Williams, where to start?

Yes, the repair costs are definitely testing how much I love the car

Just got another quote to fabricate and install: Outer sills, lower + upper inner front arch sections, prime, underseal and paint those areas for £9600. I'm not sure it's wise to do the outer sills and not the inner sills.

I can't find any of those bodywork sections anywhere so they probably will have to be fabricated. Apart from maybe these:

But I'm pretty sure it says they fit the Williams 1, when I set the filter to Williams 2 + 3 it doesn't say they fit. Does anyone know if they're compatible?

I'm off to VJB in Maldon tomorrow for a quote, I'll see what they reckon

Outer sills don't exist but the lower spec ones simply need to be cut down to size as they're shorter on the 16v/Williams so that's relatively easy
There's a company on ebay (can't remember the name but will have to dig about to find it) that does R5 bits & bobs and the inner sills they make for them are compatible and a few people have used them with success

When it comes to the metal structural bits on a Mk1 Clio, the only bits that are different are the outer side panels after the A pillar - even the 5 door ones - so you can ignore the majority of stuff when it's listing the compatibility being different etc because every single Mk1 Clio is structurally identical

Pretty sure it’s only paint and spec that makes them different. Oh and AC.

I've never seen a UK spec car with AC, there's deffo some European ones that had it though, the only significant difference is the W3 having a sunroof and ABS as standard

Yeah that's the one, they also sell the front & rear jacking points for the Clio as well

You thought about just selling it as is and buying a minter to enjoy, let someone else waste their time chasing rot! both will be the same cost the time your finished, thats what id be doing anyway, resell or move it on

.. the trouble with that excellent plan is when you buy a 'minter' and it turns out to be rotten as a peach. These cars hide their rust away.

I hadn't really thought about selling it, I'll consider it though.
