Not another one (EK9 content)

I just can't get my head around them, sorry mate. I appreciate they're good cars but the prices they fetch and the rediculous cost of tuning parts for them just makes me Raff out roud.

Not for me.

Price is relative, yes for their age they aren't cheap but there's another way to look at it. If I keep it in the current condition and sell it in 2 years I'd get back most of what I paid. If I bought a 182 for £4k and kept it mint in 2 years it'd still only get me 50p when I sell it.

Any reason why the 2000 plates are cheaper? Not as raw/rare?

98' is the one to buy?

Echo the price is relative comment. At the end of the day it's a rare car. Demands a premium and the good ones more so.

You sure you're not getting muddled up with DC2's ? 98 spec so 98MY or newer tegs are the ones to have.

There are a few ek9 2000 plates that seem cheap.

Is the 98 plate ek9 the one to have?

People have their preference when it comes to pre or post facelift. There's no clear-cut spec hike like there is with the teg. As for prices all sorts will play a part, mileage, condition, whether the car has a cat 1 or has been undersealed which will dictate price.

There's also the other big factor that you see on CS too which is the owners motivation to get rid. Some may be cheaper because the owner has to get rid/has a company car on the way, has picked up points and can't afford to insure etc. I viewed a fair few and even some of the dear ones were tatty.

lol, I've probably been toying with the idea that long mate you're right. Sold the Clio back in October/November time so it's been a fair few months resisting the temptation to just sack the idea off and buy something else. Only thing that kept me from giving up was knowing that really the chances of owning one in my life that isn't f**ked or rotten will get increasingly unlikely as they age so really had to scratch the itch before it was too late.

He'd be f**ked in mine with the Bride seat rail on the drivers side anyway lol

That one I viewed for you last year had the same rail. I couldn't see. Genuinely.

FML.

Looks sh*t and you suck for taking so long. x

You about later? I'll call you.

Yeah should be mate nothing lined up.

It's perfect for me but then having said that I'm 6ft3. Weirdly I was talking to the previous owner about it when I picked the car up yesterday and he'd looked into the other rails such as the Spoon ones etc but only the Bride (which is what's fitted) locks the rail on both sides of the seat. He definitely did his homework on the upgrades.

Sounds like the perfect kind of chap to buy from though, like you said the other night.

Congrats mate. It was worth the wait. Want.

I'm luckily enough the mrs has zero input into the choice of car I buy! ;)

I'd like to have one but maybe for a month or so.

Could have a dc5 for similar price if you feel the Ek9 is a little long in the tooth or a little too boy racer ish.

Weird one. Nice to own something special like that though.

Cheers, you filled the holes in that bootlid yet? ;)

nope lol, mot and tax this week, also mapping :) then bootlid, front bumper, wings etc are going in to be sprayed and bootlid smoothed (spoiler holes, wiper and wash hole all filled )

guess you will be at jap fest now lol?

50 50 on japfest. I'm working so it'll all depend on the weather and who's heading down there. I'm not spending £20 for a couple of hours if none of my mates bother and it's raining lol

lol that's your mates K swap right? I'd hope it's quicker or that's a serious amount of cash wasted on the conversion!

Yup very clean not kerbed, I've not washed it yet but certainly without a close up look I have not noticed any chips/bubbling pain/imperfections etc.

I'm sure you'll stick them up on EK9.org come the time but I'll keep my eyes on things because as said he'll snap them up.
