Odyssey ph1 172 pure track car. No tax discs here........

  HBT 172 Cup
My stock clutch started slipping at 250bhp, i'd be wary on your clutch selection last thing anybody likes doing is pulling the car apart once the engine is in, to change the clutch :(.

  ph1 172
The cage is finished!

I also popped the seat in to see where I will need to put the mounting tubes and typically it doesn't go back far enough for me because of the centre diagonals. No big deal, will just be a slight compromise in leg room. Height wise, where it sits is about right. Nightmare to get in and out, and that's with no steering wheel.

So excited about getting the car back very soon!:D

  Audi A6 & 172 Cup
Looks awesome! Your man can weld too! What size tube did you use for the front X? Looks like 35mm possibly bigger?

  ph1 172
Thanks Kenny, and if it wasn't for some of your pictures that I printed off it would have been alot harder so thank you!!
The front X is 40mm T45 which is just what Custom Cages sent. I didn't specify a size. What it yours then?

  Audi A6 & 172 Cup
Not a problem, glad to be of some help. Mine is only 25x1.2, your's looks properly solid! Suppose the other X I've got on the bulkhead will help, I'm sure as hell not changing it now lol

  TrackCar & F30 330d
Well at least your gona be safe it that car! Cage looks great!

The 2 big rectangle holes in the bulk head look like they are gona be a right ball ache to cover up! Fiddly job!

  Audi A6 & 172 Cup
The infill sections on the bulkhead aren't too bad, I thought they were going to be a pain in the ass too. Use some 0.9mm sheet, easy to shape and easy to cut with tin snips. You'll need to make it in 3 possibly 4 bits per side and overlap them slightly, hardest bit is probably getting in round the bars to get the metal clean enough to take a good weld.

Haven't seen what your plan was regards fuel tank but I've still got my AA fabrications one sitting here, pictures in my thread, would let it go for £150, just to see it getting used, it cost several times that!

  ph1 172
Thank you very Kenny. When I get home from work later I will check out your thread and have a better look and let you know via pm :)

  ph1 172
This whole build is going to be overkill then;)

ITB's, cams and supercharged... Oh and my 120mm trumpets arrived today:) Massive

  ph1 172
f**k me Rhys, that cage is MEGA! This car is going to be a weapon in every aspect, suspension/shell/engine!

Though there is more room on the inside of that shell to make some more holes. ;)

Cheers Nick:)

Yes there is your right! And there is still too much metal in certain places. I shall address this matter but cutting more off:D

Bloody hell, that's some seriously strong cage! Atleast you know you've given yourself the best chance should anything bad happen (obviously we all would hope it doesn't)

Looks badass too. Me likey

This thread is getting epic now!

Can you make the old trumpets into some sort of art work for my lounge? ha

Appreciate the comments thank you!

lol trust you ;) I was going to use them for back to back runs when mapping with the 120's but now it's going to be supercharged it might not make any difference. Look cool though!

  ph1 172
I thought I'd continue my little tradition in doing things different lately so I have bought a cheap set of brand new Kumho V70a medium compound 205/50 15 tyres to see what they are like. Haven't heard any comments on them so you can all tell me how rubbish they are :)

Awesome tyre mate :) I keep getting told to get a set and try them on the clio so I think you’ll find them very good! How cheap is cheap if you dont mind me asking? Only just got a set of tyres today :(

  ph1 172
£75 a tyre but only got 2 at that price. Will then have to pay around £120 a tyre for the other two so will still work out as £97.50 per tyre. What tyres are you running and what size?
