Copy and paste from my Facebook post but you guys get the jist, clio issues dont end!!
"Where to start..
With the bottom end failing during testing ahead of the 2025 season..
We set about building a strong bottom end, a trip down to Hyland Car Sales Ltd (hyland motorsport) we collected a set of manley rods and a phase 1 crank and block, thanks Corey Webber!
This was then dropped to Dave Yandell at DY Engine Services, who machined, polished and cleaned every orifice, likely in his lifeguard tshirt..
A thankyou is in order for Engine Dynamics who sourced us a set of pistons from Germany and got them sent to us nice and quickly, along with squirter jets and flywheel bolts, cheers andy!
Not forgetting the lads at FrogJam Motorsport for supplying the initial engine rebuild parts and last minute panic order of bearings they managed to get out on a next day order.
During this, I discovered the box that had been used on the one trackday and 3 laps.. was actually out of a diesel?.. being my first clio i had nothing to compare it to.. other than f**k me this is long geared, having a a short 5th gear set on the side I had wondered why I needed it, not ever getting out of 4th 😂
Very kindly, mr Justin Holloway has lent me a jc5 129 box with a quaife atb diff, while I sort a gripper diff to go in whatever I can at this point, combe lot are great!
Back to the engine.. me and dad (Greg Parsons) have assembled the new bottom end over the weekend in preparation for the 26th may, unfortunately to find the cylinder head in poor state, likely from oil starvation, next plan of action needed to work out which viable route to take for this!
Sadly, Adam Wilks & Anthony Cooper have had there own personal battles to contend to in the past weeks, we hope to see guys soon back at it!
Less said about the mk3 engines the better.
Thanks to all that have helped thus far, time for (more) pints!"
