Sorry, but that's wrong too. The first Renault sport branded car is the sport Spider which arrived in 1996/7.A Williams isnt a renault sport.
Err.....yes it is....it was developed by Renault's sport division ie Renault Sport. its just they hadn't branded themselves seperately from Renault as Renault Sport we know today, until the 172 came out....

How does a 182 trophy relate to the mag article ??:S
If you're fond of crap old cars

The dude (Stphn1985) edited his post after I commented, he originally posted about a trophy, hence my comment.^

they only mentioned the 2 clio's worth having mate!
how do you define 'the best'?
Out of the 3 cars mentioned - 197 cup, trophy and williams.
Trophy is quickest on track
Trophy is quickest on road
Williams is lightest
197 Cup has the best trim levels.
As far as the cup being quicker than the trophy, how can it be. It's the only one i've not driven, the F1 and 197 certainly aren't.
For a start it's 20% heavier than a Trophy and only 15ps (according to reno) more powerful. Ok, better brakes but you need them to stop the bloated thing.

The trophy isn't in the test, no need to mention it imo.
I've just bought a 182 Trophy from Gravells. The dealer told me that 182 trophy is quicker than the 197? Is this true or does it all depend on the driver?
the guy trying to sell the car to you told you that? fancy that
it might be marginally quicker in a straight line, but A-B or round a track I'd be beting against the Trophy tbh, the 197's seem on a different level as regards grip and handling.
The best hatch comment was a slice of humour, who am I to comment on the best hot hatch ever.
But as for the Renaultsport comparision, seeing I have owned 4 including a 172 cup and a trophy, I think I have a right to an opinion on which car I think is superior.
