project looks the nuts! need a bit of advice if poss mate,,

thats the pas pump im planning to use (saxo vts yeah?)
what are you doing for lines?
are they something only a specialist can make or can anybody do it with copper tubing and flaring tool like brake pipes maybe??
only looking at the size of the thing i may need to put mine in the boot and run the lines to the front!

You'll just need the right pipe and makesure its bigger than brake pipes! Was having a look at them the other day when fitting Daves PAS and figured they were similar enough to be able to DIY it if needed.

i mean made in the same way as brake pipes

ie can you get the fittings and a cheap enough flaring tool

move the battery to the boot and fit the pas pump there. I had a pas pipe made up by a local hydraulics place

I'm not sure what they are technically called, but we got them from a local place that makes up hydraulic hoses etc.

They are an olive fitting by the way if thats any help

Saturday we transfered the uprated fuel pump from the old car to the new car, plus fitted the old competition driveshafts into the new car.

The oil breather catch tank also went in. You can also see the adjuster bar for the alternator aswell.

Test fitted the bonnet and wings, and also made some new mounts for the rear bumper. It's starting to look like a car again now :)

Got a Geartronics flatshift ecu to replace the Sadev one we already had.

And fitted in the glovebox next to the Pectel T2 engine ecu.

And a vid of it running. Aplogies for the shoddy camera work, can't start the engine and hold the at the same time. It only has the exhaust manifold and downpipe on at the moment, which explains the noise.

Wheels on and off the sill stands. Going to get the wheels sandblasted and repainted at some point. Brake fluid in and exhaust made to fit. Also a temporary drivers seat fitted ready for going away to paint.

Photo021.jpg

Terratrip rally computer and display fitted to the dash, with the Sadev gear indicator mounted to the dash top.

The dash top is on, but will need to come off again to fit a couple of guages into the middle air vents.

The car looks awesome, it'll be a weapon when finished.

Are you planning to remove the steering lock and ignition barrel? I am looking at doing this but not sure what to do with the imobiliser ring around the barrel.

Also where did you get your inner door covers?

  Some of a Clio 1.8 16v
I do love this car and it's good to see it coming together, when is the cars first outting reckon i'd come along to take a watch as i've been watching it take shape be good to see it in action!

The steering lock I have already removed, I just cut the 'peg' that slides out off level with the body of the barrel. The barrel is going to be left in soley to turn the ignition on and off, no reason it couldn't be put on a switch but theres also no reason to take it off the barrel. The immobiliser ring isn't an issue for us as it has a standalone engine loom so the immobiliser doesnt need to be disarmed.

I dont understand what you mean by the door covers though :)

Before the end of the year hopefully. Not go a specific event set as the first outing. A couple of months hopefully

Should be off to the paintshop in the next fortnight though!

A bit slow going, but been quite busy the last few weekends. The car is ready to go off to get painted now.

The dash is now all complete apart from screwing it back up and putting the newly painted dash inserts back on

Have fitted Aerocatches to the bonnet, such a pain to fit as i'm sure anyone who has some on their clio can testify. If you have a flat single skin bonnet then i'm sure they are a dream :) The clio is anything but a flat single skinned bonnet.

Drawing on the roof, and using a tape measure!

Photo027.jpg

Hole saws out yet again to put a couple of holes through

Photo028.jpg

Roof vent loosely fitted; when it goes off to get painted it will be bonded down to the roof.

Photo029.jpg

Photo039.jpg

All the panels fitted, ready to go. Not mentioned before but fitted the tailgate and removed the glass from it, and put on a new RS bumper.

Photo014a.jpg

Need to go away and make a list of everything that needs to be done when it gets back. Off the top of my head:

Seats and harnesses fitted
Extinguisher plumbed in
Plastic windows fitted
Door cards fitted
Flat shift setup
Tow eyes
Helmet box

and i'm sure many many other little jobs

Finally a very short and bad quality video of it starting again, just because I like the sound it makes. First attempt at starting today resulted in a 2 foot flame out the exhaust :)

I have the same roof rent and I have just replaced after the bonnet had flown up. I have made a mod to it as if its raining you do get wet even with the internal vents are shut. the holes that are in the roof put a rubber trim round to try and stop water running in.
car looks well we have just took delivery of a sadev st 75 14 the other week just to make sure I'll be able to keep up with you and your dad.
