RENTEC: Unbiased Review - 36k 182 Service

Portsmouth is 130 miles from Taunton, but I was in the area for work so I thought I'd sample the Rentec experience.

My 36k service cost me £310 inc Vat, Own Oil Supplied & No Air filter.

Mike also checked/cleaned my brakes for me, and tightened-up my loose splitter & sprayed my a/c system with anti-bug.

It's a very clean outfit... and there's a nice office/waiting room.

Unfortunately there's no courtesy car as of yet, but Mike's brother was kind enough to drop me off in town... and he picked me up when the service was done.

It was ready within 4 hours approx (from drop-off time, to pick-up time).

we charge £ 30.00 per hour to clio sporters.. £ 38.00 normal...

Bristol Street Exeter: £268 approx approx all inc.

There are huge differences within Renault's own dealer network.

he has charged another 1.5 hours for fitting the aux belt!!!
we would have added 0.5 for that as we were in there already....

I made a mistake when I quoted him in the fact I forgot to quote for the accessory belt, no ones perfect not even me.
I also checked up on how much this would have cost to have this job done in Portsmouth at the local dealer quote was £536.00 inc.

And yours is a 1.2 16V so dont have to have the AUX belt changed which on a full fat 172/182 is a bumper off/engine mount off job.
Would probably have done yours for about 160-180 inc vat.

i just assumed because it was fixed price it was the same across the board? ah well lol. so what does a 1.2 16v service actually entail, i assumed it was the same regardless of model?

times are usually less for the smaller engined cars....less oil..cheaper plugs.. etc etc..more room in engine bay as well...

Clarkie, you aren't doing yourself any favours by making out you're 'better' and cheaper than Mike. All those that go there receive the very best service from a totally trustworthy mechanic (not two words you can usually use together).

carlton offer 5 courtesy cars...5 mechanics...and we are cheaper...you do the maths love!!!

As soon as he's able to get the parts cheap and direct from Renault he'll be sorted
