RS07 ACE ,LY Megane R26

So a bit of an update on the new thrones

First thing was to unbolt the rails from the new seats

20160705_085632_zpsrpszfuns.webp

Then try them in the Megane to see if they would fit (of course they didn't,that would have been too easy  )

20160705_091856_zpsuogmjnev.webp

So next thing was to attack them with the power tools! :smilingimp:

20160705_091942_zpslk7n4ias.webp

With some careful calculations it was established that they would need to be widened by 30mm

20160705_093841_zpsz2fpw737.webp

So some proper spacers would be need and que my wonderful technical drawing

2016-07-05%2012.02.50_zps8tfmawzj.webp

A mate who's a CNC operator knocked these up for me as a favor in his lunch hour

2016-07-05%2022.50.51_zps16eovmq4.webp

And in the words of Ace Ventura ''Like a Glove''

20160706_193714_zps4hhzpmsr.webp

After that they were welded, painted and fitted to the car

20160709_164931_zpso8sf2uae.webp

Had to slightly elongate some of the mounting holes on the outside edge of the seats

20160709_182008_zpstqb3gqpm.webp

And finally in! :hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes::hearteyes:

Absolutely wicked, love the seats!

Awesome addition mate

Bloody hell they look good in there

Should of come like that from factory

Love this car!

Thank you for the kind words chaps.

After a spirited drive this morning,I'm so happy I fitted them. The extra grip/support they offer is fantastic only downside is the faff of getting in and out and trying to avoid squashing the bolsters 😂

So the weekend has passed which means only one thing..........

MORE PARTS FOR THE MEGANE!!!!!! :tongueclosed:

Todays goodies are as follows...

Powerflex engine and gearbox kit

2016-07-26%2018.58.43_zpsig3euedr.webp

Silver Project adjustable top mounts

2016-07-26%2018.58.11_zpstqope3g3.webp

And some nice new decals for the rear quarter windows as the old ones had started to peel off

2016-07-26%2018.57.22_zpslbr18x63.webp

Also fitted the short shift on sunday which has made a massive difference in the throw in the gear change and also fitted the newer style 'RS' badge

20160726_184543_zpswumsrued.webp

I've seen this 4 or 5 times this last week or two and have to say it looks outstanding in the flesh! Absolutely love LY!

Cheers bud! I do try to keep it clean.

Some new plans on the horizon as been offered a Meg 250 turbo cheap so hoping to reach the magical 300/300 figures

So it's been an eventful month with the Megane.

Finally got round to replacing the passenger side mirror after hitting a grouse and having the fat feathered t**t rip my mirror clean off :rage:

Also to add insult to injury I had a stone fly up and crack my windscreen so I was £75 quid lighter after the delightful people at Autoglass popped round.

So I've been wanting a few bits for my megane and in true man maths style I decided to buy another car :tonguewink:

20160905_100051_zpsrotyyfnf.webp

20160905_100235_zps4gphpi9n.webp

It's a leggy Renaultsport Megane DCI 175 but it was local and cheap so the bits I want will be free and I may even make some beer money if I'm lucky.

So after decommissioning the DCI over the last 2 days I finally have a few bits I've wanted since buying the car.

With my R26 being a 'Non-Lux' model it didn't have keyless entry or a leather rear bench.

I'm not to bothered about the first bit the secondition one is something I wanted.

So que the DCI.......

Out with the crappy cloth

20160907_190021_zpsr3txqbko.webp

And in with the leathers

20160907_170602_zps8aphsp0b.webp

20160907_170616_zpsqlrndtde.webp

Also I'm on the hunt for more power so I've started buying bits which are 630cc deka injectors and a 2.75 inch decat

20160909_174654_zpsmkonbzhn.webp

Just a Megane 250 turbo left to buy and then a trip to RS tuning is on the cards

So another week and another shitty update

Nothing special just some wheel spacers as the alloys seemed to be lost in the arches without them.

Pictures are s**t as i'm more Bill Bailey than David Bailey

Thats Coming along nicely mate.

Thanks bud, suprising how quickly the idea of leaving a car standard changes

Have you fitted the top mounts yet? Interested in how easy they are to fit and adjust.

Never fitted them as when I looked through all the new front end I came across new genuine top mounts.

As mines a weekend car I thought they were a bit of an overkill so sold them on.

Just about to order some new shocks and top mounts for mine. Where did you get yours from? How much?
Found RPD best for shocks at £53 each and top mounts £49 each from Renault Wolverhampton

Bought the lot off Paul Temperton via the Megane Facebook page Dan.

Think I'm gonna splash out on new bottom arms too and that way everything suspension wise will be brand new!

So not alot happened over the last few weeks with the car, just been enjoying driving it and such

Then this happened last Friday................

20161022_170019_zpsvsoojfzw.webp

Only gone and bought another on :tongueclosed:

Not sure what the plans are yet, will definitely be 'de chaving' it and give it a good clean.

Thoughts are possibly a track car with a friend or sort the niggles and sell it on.

Can you get bottom arms easily? Only ask as I was interested in a megane a bit ago and it needed them but Renault was struggling for stock. I could be making it up but sure it was them.

Not breaking it then? Saw the vultures were circling!

No you are right Renault were struggling for stock but have them back in atm.

Not breaking it then? Saw the vultures were circling!

Not sure tbh. Don't think I'd make a massive amount off breaking it as I want to keep the seats for myself and I'd love to start doing track days but there's no way I'd be using the Liquid Yellow one for such days.

Do it. Do some track days in it and then break it if you don't get what you want for it. Would love to track mine but thats what the honda is for

So first update is I've fitted the leather doorcards and centre console from the DCI I was breaking

20161128_151602_zpsnlejai8w.webp

20161128_151609_zpstt984cgg.webp

Also fitted a Clio 200 steering wheel. Reason I've fitted the Clio 200 wheel is that's it's smaller, deeper dished and was in great nick PLUS it has a yellow band to match my paintwork!

The nice thing about the swap is that it still retains the cruise control etc unlike aftermarket steering wheels.

20161128_151721_zpsdczouvz6.webp

Oh whats in the box?????

20170108_180724_zpsaodrq2or.webp

Shiny shiny! :love

20170108_180745_zpsqwwjz7m2.webp

The Forge pipes will make naff all difference performance wise but will look nice in the engine bay and match the Forge I/C I already have.

And as a treat to the old girl I've had her detailed and winter protected.

So even though it's January and I'm flat broke it hasn't stopped me spending on the Megane

2017-01-19%2019.14.46_zpswrjcexwc.webp

They are a set of Reyland 330mm bells and rotors, perfect stoppers for my next plans.........

So just a small update on a few little jobs tackled this past weekend on the car.

First up was sorting out the drivers side headlight.

Recently both the indicator bulb and the side light bulb had failed so I was only left with my main beam and an annoying high speed tick every time I went to turn right!

Anyone who who's the meganes are an absolute ballache to change a bulb on as there's no access from the top/engine bay and Renault in their wisdom put the worlads smallest inspection panel in the wheel arches that are designed to remove as much knuckle skin as possible.

After reading up alot of owners recommend taking the front bumper off to change the bulbs as it's easier.

Also since purchasing the car the drivers side headlight has suffered with blistering paint on the inside of the headlight which really let the look of the car down.

Dodgy bubbling paint headlight

20170204_143346_zpsyjok8bky.webp

And up close

20170204_143333_zpsh5c6fkfh.webp

20170204_143340_zps8zvybqso.webp

So half way through surgery she looked like this

20170204_153339_zpsps7gj3ba.webp

Luckily I'm breaking another R26 ATM that had also been fitted with Xenons so I took the mint drivers side headlight from it and fitted it to my car.

20170204_153347_zpscx0o9sfr.webp

And how it looks all back together

20170204_160854_zpseuvj7xxy.webp

Also on the list of bits to do was to swap the TB breather pipe over. Again since ive owned the car this hasn't been right and annoyed me.

Even though it was secure and was fitted in place with a matching Liquid Yellow cable tie it I couldn't live with it.

2017-02-04%2018.36.12_zpsxhcehohh.webp

So step in the breaker R26 with a mint breather pipe with complete connecter ends.

2017-02-04%2021.17.17_zpseszt4zsu.webp

And finally fitted without a cable tie in sight

20170204_161352_zpsx4edquac.webp

As the pipes connectors are very brittle I didn't want them breaking again plus I didn't want to fork out the £50 quid it would have cost ne to buy the pipe from Renault, so I fitted the Forge covers that I purchased a while back (also one supplied to cover MAP sensor on inlet)

20170204_161345_zpsh2pef2hn.webp

And in situ (don't worry the red bolts will be replaced by some stainless ones and I hate how they look in the engine bay)

20170204_161644_zpsivn69tcb.webp

Last but not least was a simple swap of mirror switch on the inside. The one fitted had the logos start to wear off and yet again the other R26 donated a nicer part for me to fit.

Before

20170204_162320_zpsakrxeinv.webp

And after

2017-02-04%2021.15.27_zpsbozd9myx.webp

So it was getting dark and here's a pic next to the Black R26 that I'm currently breaking that supplied all the free parts for mine.

20170204_163725_zpsby0i58hi.webp

Granted this isn't the most excited update but I believe the little details are as importantas the big ones.

Hopefully I'll have some juicer news next time but cheers for reading those who have.

So time for a little update.

Had these new engine mounts and Powerflex mounts/inserts for some time and finally got a nice day to change them over.

20170323_084550_zps3htadp1i.webp

20170323_084108_zpssauuhu2c.webp

20170323_084711_zps3ppfxwd2.webp

So started with the lower engine mount, fitted in its new home

20170323_094220_zpsxsl7dv82.webp
[/URL]

Then on to the upper engine mount with new stabiliser bar

20170323_101748_zpsdszkkrtp.webp

20170323_101743_zpscqiymykp.webp

20170323_103844_zpsh0to211k.webp

Then finally the new gearbox mount

20170323_111528_zps9bhr8qwl.webp

Also chucked on a new coolant bottle cap from the one I broke recently as the yellow paint was still intact

20170323_103955_zpskmsedza7.webp

She's off for her MOT tomorrow so fingers crossed it doesn't cost me too much!

How do you find Powerflex mounts mate? Tempted to get a set myself but I don't want the dash to rattle loads like it did in my Clio 😂

Very little dash rattle but you can tell they are firmer.

Also gear change seems much more positive so I give them a big thumbs up
