seems odd... (insurance)

  Italian 3.2 V6
just been ins hunting on comparethemarket and most quotes of cars (197,R26,cooper s,350nz) which are all 100-500 quid more than what my 172 will be come end of this year..

now when i came to getting a quote for the 2003 Ford Focus RS is actually came to nearly 100 cheaper to what my 172 would be... has any1 else found this out before? im suprised to how cheao it is tbh... can pick them up for same prices as R26s ,350z etc and easy tunable, reliable quick out the box.. remap etc. raced on on quater mile and was quick.

tbh im interested now :D

172 = 17
182 = 16

182 came out more expensive.. just seems odd thats its cheaper than a 172 lol. the RS seems to hold its value well also!

it might be something to do with the euroNCAP rating and price of parts, if parts are cheaper for the ford with a higher NCAP this can reduce the premium.

oright well anyway its all good news i suppose.

any1 ever driven or has any reviews on the old Focus RS?

Yep focus RS are cheaper to insure for some reason. Can only guess they have quite a low claim rate as the parts arent cheap for them!

172's are group 16 aren't they? Just varying from price to price depending if they're the Cup version.

Fords generally tend to be cheaper for some strange reason. A while ago I got two quotes for a Saxo VTR (group 7) and a Escort 1.8Si (group 10), the Escort came out £200 cheaper :S

How do mate, found this too, i drove a 03 rs focus b4 i got the cup put a quote in and was really surprised by the comeback.
Good drive but they say they are hit or miss, gotta keep tight hold when the power comes in cos they can torque steer i found.
Gorgeous car tho.... still want one!

power wise? would have to test drive a few before buying then ay... but yea ino what you mean they seem to hold there value really well.

they should be reliable due to them being ford tho surely!?

cheers.

heard that some drove well and others like pigs, whether it was an urban myth is somewhat to be considered as i only drove the one and cannot compare but was mightly impressed.

My mate has a focus rs. Bought it a few months ago. Has a fancy sports cat and a bluefin plug 'n' play chip and is meant to be about 250ish horse. Think he said he was 1700 fully comp at 19 with 2 years no claims. His thing torque steers like a b*****d! Sadly no it wont be reliable down to it being a Ford. He's on clutch 3,fair enough clutch 2 was fitted with bent forks, but also has an oil leak too. Nice....but I personally wouldnt buy one

Think insurance calculates parts and labour cost of a cars make, that would be why Renaults are so high!
