Now everybody wants one you couldnt give them away 3 weeks ago!
Paul at rs tuning i posted the dyno graphs up earlier on in this thread.who mapped yours?
I got 186 on a standard engine with mine could have had more top end but with a sacrifice to lower end power delivery i think you should easy see 190bhp
You lost me after UNLESS. I am just quoting what i was told by the mapper. My knowledge on engine tuning is limited hence why i took it to be mapped by a pro. I dont know how and why it works it just does.I don't get why I read this so often on a simple NA engine, UNLESS, you are takling about cam timing? (though most people are not).
If the cam timing is staying the same..., then the ignition advance and fueling maps at the top end do not have an optimium that is mutually exlusive from an optimium of what you can map at the bottom end. This is EFi, not carbs!
Also with the mk2 that simply phases either fully in or out of VVT, you still get the choice of the optimium engagement points to cover "both" running speeds, this isn't going to 'give more low end with a sacrafice to top end'. Obviously the mk3 has continous VVT allowing dynamic optimisation of cam timing, point still stands true that you are achieving both the best bottom end AND top end in the same map.
I don't know (or give one) about boost, but I believe with wastegates and pressure bleeding you can do the 'more midrange Vs top end' argument, but not on NA. It would take a physical cam timing change either via changing the LSA or moving both cams etc...
/rant
This statement was just my interpretation of what paul told me by the way so technicaly its probably wrong as has been pointed out iam sure he would give you the proper reasoning that he gave me but like i said iam not a tuner......I got 186 on a standard engine with mine could have had more top end but with a sacrifice to lower end power delivery i think you should easy see

have just stuck billet flywheel, 182 exhaust manifold and cams in mine. off to be mapped again on wednesday so will post results.
am sure it would still be fine as a daily. personally am not a big fan of the 197 cams as they are a bit of a 'compromise' especially for the price they are going for now.
have just fitted another one to a phase 2 that's running standard cams, 182 exhaust manifold and epas. that will be off for mapping on thursday so will have results from that one as well.
Yeah saw the reg. Flamer flaming
