Thought I'd stick a post up on my track car as i've only ever stuck pics in the Ph1 172 appreciation thread.

Anyway, Some background/pics.

I had djw John's old flamer for a few years. Looked great, But shock horror, It suffered from the ph1 rust problem. Did start repairing it, realised i still hadn't finished the last one. Put it outside to melt a bit more and that was that.

If you follow the page you will see I specialise in used parts mainly for Renault sport clios. I bought in an accident damaged inferno 182 for breaking, Front crossmember etc but shell wasn't too bad. It was a sunny day...the colour looked nice in the sun and wala, the rest is history.

Few phone calls later the plan was on. Prefacelift the 182 to a ph1 and keep it inferno. But with a fairly standard/usable drivetrain.

After a trip to my mate Myles at MCM Chassis alignment that does my bodywork stuff then back for a quick engine bay paint it looked like this -

So after my initial plan of keeping it fairly simple, I bought this ph1 in for breaking aswell as a couple of other ex track cars. (Cant find pics of the cup) but it gave me a new engine setup, Jc5 box with a Gripper diff and a half safety devices R022 cage...just what I didn't need.

I was going to paint the bodywork myself...but that would likely let it down massivley 🥲 so off to Foz sports bodyshop it went (same place that done my sunflower 👌) and it looks excellent.

You will be shocked to hear it sat for a while after the bodyshop...not something id do 👀

Got suspension on. Went for Gaz golds/refurbed ast top mounts/refurbed Northloopcup RCK.

Fully gutted the inside ready for half cage etc.

Bit of a gap in the pics. But, I booked a trackday before the engine was even bolted back together 😅

Rebuilt the head with wossner valves/cat cam valve springs/197 cams.
Using jenvey/pms itb's/pms breather plate/spacer and catch can. pms manifold and gen 90 ecu.
Pms engine mounts/pms radiator.

Thanks Stevie/Blair and everyone else that have me a hand at all hours to make it happen.
Quick map tweak by Andy and Pheonix so it wouldn't explode on track that day 🤣

Next up, A trip to EFI. Thanks to Stevie at Mcnab Motorsport for running it down for me, Came back with a usable 206hp/173ftL. Drives great now!

New seats/harness's - went with pole positions/schroth harness's after having a run a leon at the ring with this setup! Perfect combo.

then a quick trip to my mate David at DRS motorsport for a last minute string up before another track day in it....got a bit excited, well not talk about the rest 🤣 a damaged wheel/studs and a trip in the recovery truck of shame.
Robbed parts from the Trophy to finish the rest of the day!

Not much has happened after that, Got hold of a genuine v6 spoiler so had that painted and fitted. Hopefully get a front half of the cage for it this year and maybe a trackday or 2 🤞
