Typically mad hot day around 29-30degrees which doesnt bother the engine as it runs cool in the low 80deg coolant range on the move. Driver proper overheating however with no ac!!

165 miles done to the airbnb. Big posh digs.

No more pics of it as i was too busy catching up with everyone. Travelled back home after the show, pissed down late afternoon so it needs cleaning again. Apart from that all good no issues to report. Had boost wound up to 14psi on way back and its mega. Squats and goes on 4th gear roll!

Worked out real time mpg and its averaged 35mpg. Thats with giving it some on the way back and stuck in loads of traffic on the way there. The bosch 980cc injectors are great with good mapping from Chris @ Efi.

Will be time to fit new clutch soon. Over and out for now!

Updates.

Sometimes i forget ive got this as it barely moves out of the garage. Took it off the road last September and its not moved from its spot since.

Connected up battery, and primed oil system as its been laid up for ages. Unplugged coilpacks and injectors and cranked on starter - oil pressure flew up on the gauge straight away. Connected everything up and started instantly on the 9 month old fuel and ran like it was used yesterday, no rust on the brakes or nothing.

Backed it out of garage and ran it up to temp.

Cleaned the dust off ready for maiden voyage to mot station tomorrow.

This is so my favourite Clio ❤️❤️
I always disconnect the injectors to build the oil pressure first too when doing the first start of the year after winter.

Well nothing happened to T trophy last year apart from 8 mile round trip for mot. It needs using this year and its time to sort out the last few issues.

Ive booked a few days off work before easter to fit the twin plate clutch, new gear cables etc. All the other service items ready for a light recomission for some use this summer.

Made a small start on it today. The optima red top battery had seen better days and it cranked slow last time it was started so it had to go. Ordered a new one and fitted it today.

God I love this car.

Does the pump in the boot annoy you?

Drives me insane, i need to do a soundproofed cover. Its not as bad as the 044 in the extra though, that is pure tinitus

This aint no volvo so i have to run one  pistons send me a love letter under half a tank

Solid 4 hours done today.

Engine and box dropped straight down and gearbox off.
20250415_143333.jpg

No oil leaks suprisingly
20250415_143337.jpg

Ttv smf with twin organic plate fitted using a cut off ndo spline to line up both plates.
20250415_151628.jpg

Flywheel lock in place whilst torquing all bolts.
20250415_151801.jpg

New luk concentric slave fitted.
20250415_153659.jpg

New bushes fitted to gear selector as it was a bit tight. The new bushes were even tighter than the ones i removed so sent the 10.5mm reamer through. All good now.
20250415_160401.jpg

Back in the hole.
20250415_180625.jpg

Bled the clutch up to check it was all working as intended before refitting more parts. I pre filled the concentric slave before fitting to save lots of hassle when bleeding as these mk2 meg setups can be a pig to do. This worked excellent and had a good pedal straight away with minimal hassle. The clutch feels much better than the old helix, its heavier than stock but not knee breaker.

Also flushed all the brake fluid for fresh rbf600 whilst there, as well overdue.

Back on it tomorrow.

Another 4 hours done today.

As everybody whos owned a megane knows the gearchange on the ndo gearbox is not great at the best of times, and this was pretty s**t by my standards, vague and did not self centre. Had to be careful changing gear fast as it was all over the place. This was a ongoing issue when Haswell owned it and had carried over even with parts changed. It needed to be resolved to make the car more enjoyable to drive.

As per last post to resolve this, i renewed and reamed the selector bush and purchased a new set of oem r26 gear cables to get it as best as i could.

Heatshields off and exhaust dropped, centre console out and shifter out. I noted with cables removed the shifter was also quite stiff so added fresh grease.

New cables. Old ones were not too bad but a bit bent which could be causing the issues.
20250416_111805.jpg

Fitted.
20250416_115846.jpg

Got them fitted up and the adjuster set for side to side setting. On testing in the car i was dissapointed to see that it was not much better. Main issue was no resistance/spring when moving across the gate to 5-6 gear making it crap.

This would not do, when moving selector by hand in the engine bay you could see it did not spring up great so decided to have a look at what was going on. I supported the gearbox and took the gearbox mount off so i could remove the selector.

Upon removal i noted this was a ph1 selector with single spring only. Renault changed the design on ph2 so dual spring, i guess to resolve this issue.

Pic off google showing ph1 on left and ph2 on right.
Screenshot_20250416_172802_Chrome.jpg

Luckily i have a big stock of megane parts including a few ndo gearboxes so pulled one out and swapped the alloy quickshift over. Fitted the selector, and noted shifter now self centres fine and gears 1-6 are much better/positive. At this point i select reverse and it barely goes in. Ph2 selector must be slightly different and it hits the gearbox mount carrier.

Reverse/selector interface.
20250416_163004.jpg

This was a simple fix. Took carrier off and die grinded adequate clearance.

Sorted. Reverse in with a positive clunk now.
20250416_162954.jpg

Couple of hours work but overall, good improvement. Its still an ndo so not fantastic but well acceptable, but if im not happy with this on the street ill stick a zpo shifter in as im not investing any more time in the stock megane setup.

R26 gearknob fits well with the interior.
20250416_170930.jpg
20250416_170926.jpg

With that done, got starter motor on and wired, egt sensors reconnected, wiring reconnected and fuel system plumbed back in. Small jobs taking ages as all bits fit in one place.

Egt per cyl.

Coming together.

Still plenty to do. No rush though.

Fantastic build, can’t say I’ve ever seen a 6 speed in a Clio before. Is it an entire Megane swap?

Was t.trophy the previous owner/builder or did you just change username?
