tax disk dilema

Bought a car wedsday got a new 6months tax disk bought by the dealer, he didnt have any holders so I said its fine ive one at the house ill sort it, banged it in my wallet and have subsequently lost it..... ****!!! How do I get a copy tac disk without having to stump for it and also will a we note in the window stop me getting fined for failure to display? Thanks
