Toastfrenzy's Tin Top, some say...........

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
I think I could work out a way to have a pit limiter on a switch. It's not a feature, but I have an idea of how to adapt one of the outputs

My ECU has it but it's pretty useless so I (also Tony and Jay) just use the launch control rev limit and that does the job perfectly :) As you say if there is a feature like Launch or button to swap maps etc then easy to sort. Would make life much easier for Pete and Sam

Well the holiday's over back to reality now, work, broken car, broken tractor and bills.

I did get some peace and quiet - Sam, Harry and Scarlett in dinghy me on yacht with a slab of Mythos (great beer!)

The crew....weren't always smiling, especially when it was windy across the deck!

That looks beautiful Pete. I need a holiday like that right now.

crew required for the next one...on board childminder be ok?

Stunning pictures.

Cheers, all taken with my phone, Lumia 920. Takes an half decent pic, for a phone.

I can't see any cake anywhere. Looks nice Pete.

Cake free all week, :( but the unlimited supplies of Mythos more than made up for it. it was a good hol, none of us wanted to come back!

Looks perfect Holiday Pete! Last boat i went on was on the norfolk broads, not quite as classy!

lol, the broads, never been but I did look at going a couple of years ago, to start Harry and Scarlett off sailing, went to Lake Windermere instead, now that water was freezing.

Fixed the tractor yesterday afternoon, rad popped, new one arrived while I was away, need a rad cap as the old one disintegrated, original from 1960's.

Had to fix before I could get the Cup down the track on the trailer - can't get a car up to the barn.

Cup # 17 is now at Dan's, 519 Automotive, to get the original "new" engine re fitted (I'll add more about this later) and to be fully re wired along with new Canems management and of course my state of the art gauges!

pulled the head off the short lived hero engine. 8 bent valves......and a secret history revealed

looks like it's dropped a valve head and someone has fixed it, but left one piston that had a BIG dent in it. Would explain why it leaked so much from the rocker cover when it was in Adams ph1 anyway. no mention in the "full service history"

Didn't waste much time then!

How come only one side touched (exhaust side)?

Because only one valve went, its not that the cam timing has slipped, the mark is in slightly the wrong place, looks like like the valve stuck in the guide and the contact happened while it was a lot further open, hence the damage is towards the middle of the piston more rather than at the cutout like if the timing had just slipped slightly.

Another option is the valve fell in half and jammed there, but unless it stopped the engine dead (ie happened when the car wasnt in gear) then there would be mutliple marks in my experience.

On just one valve out of the 8? lol

I dont think you have thought that one through enough :)

The dropped valve is an old issue, can see the exhaust valves have made nice shinny areas on all the pistons...I did that.

Apologies, didnt realise you were chatting about two different things at once :)

At least it didnt drop at high rpm like this one I pulled apart:

Must have hit a good few hundred times, lol

yes the dropped valve is an old issue, all 8 exhaust valves have contacted when Pete saw it off, no wonder the rocker cover had quite a big leak when the engine was fitted in Adamm's old ph1 as previous owner's in the past had quite clearly chucked a new head on and slapped it back together

Navvy at work, Sam's not just a good driver.....

Bit of remedial fence work this weekend after some new horses decided to make a break for it last week and took a fair few posts and electric rope with them too.
