Well at last the Engine and Transmission are finally sitting in the Car!

Was hard work and few brown trouser moments getting it in, as we didn't want to scratch or mark any of the newly painted engine bay.
Everything was wrapped in copious amounts of bubble wrap to try and stop and marks!

Few times it seemed as if the engine didn't want to fit as the New Turbos and Veilside Inlet Plenum are quite a bit larger than the standard ones so they are close to the Suspension Turrets, but we knew it would be close before hand.

After quite a long time dropping the engine down, moving it back, and jiggling it in at different angles on the Crane it's finally in and fitted!

Engine is in and gearbox is bolted up too.
Next plan of action is Booking the car into Haywood and Scott Exhausts in Basildon to get the Y Piece of both Turbo downpipes enlarged from 3 inch to 4 inch and a V band fitted, once that is done the Car can be mapped and finally on the road!

Cheers

Another update, Car's been booked in at Haywood & Scott Exhausts on Monday 24th August, to have the Y Pipes enlarged (they are fully booked before then), as the car can't be driven there yet because it's not mapped, and it can't be mapped until the exhausts have been finished, means Dad and I will have to hire a flatbed van/lorry and transport it there, luckily its only 15 minutes up the road.

So now we have a month to finsh off all the other jobs;
Like interior going back in, Intercooler pipework mocked up and fitted, Air filters, plumbing everything in such as coolant system and power steering, connecting the loom and ECU now the engine is in, amongst other jobs.

The mapper Ryan from Syvecs only needs 2 weeks notice, so once the exhaust is done it will be mapped after, probably looking at early-mid Septermber.

Whats the purpose of this car?

Will it be driven on the road, purely a show car that's never unleashed, track?

This is very impressive!

Are both you and your dad from mechanical back grounds??

Thanks mate!

My dad owns his own Engineering company so has vast amounts of mechanical background and knowledge, however I don't... I'm just learning as I'm going along!

Will mainly be driven on the road mate, along with some shows and also the 1/4 mile at Santapod.
Not just a show queen, no point doing all the engine work if it was just for shows lol.

Thanks

  A special one.
Hey bud, i love all of the hard work that's gone into this car.

I know you have the car booked into Hayward & Scott for its exhaust, just thought you should know that i had Ian make me a down pipe for my Impreza Spec C.
I was so un-happy with his work that i didn't even bother to fit it and ive now sold it on, if it was me i wouldn't take this car there.

The quality of the welding wasn't that good and where they had bent the pipe they had caused ripples in the bend.

Im now going to take my car to PTR Exhausts.

Solid Fabrications in orpington gets my vote
I've just had a look at there site mate.

Yeah that's where I'd be taking this car too, H&S are s**t.

They don't purge the pipes to get a nice weld on the inside.

You can see the wrinkles in the pipe.

Work is incredible, but whatever filter is on the photos ruined it for me!

Looks so much better in the last ones where you can actually see it!

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Me and my Dad had 3 days off work this week to try and get some solid days straight working on the car, managed to get quite a few bits done.

Haven't got photo's of it all unfortunately.

Propshaft has been reinstalled and fitted.

Front suspension fully torqued now it's got full engine weight on it;

Fuel pressure regulator has been fitted in the bay, along with fuel lines made up for the fuel rail and routed to the filter;

Gearbox and Power steering coolers have been fitted and lines routed to both (don't have a photo of this)

Intercooler pipe work been mocked up, as the inlet plenum is large and has quite an angle on the throttle body, we had to cut a opening in the bay for the pipe work to go through;

Just waiting for a 90 degree pipe to turn up in the post then it can be fully
Connected up.

We test fitted the air filters and air inlet pipes to the turbos;

We have also fully polished the exhaust,
Fitted the crankcase breather lines which run under the back of car.

Also started painting the interior dash panels gloss black and reconnected the loom together.

Thanks Steve

Man this is so f**king mint.

Those underside pics really show the level of commitment to it, it looks awesome.

Now I am one for saying "meh just use it", but in that condition I'd not want to hah!

Incredible work! Still amazes me that polished finish on the turbos. Engine bay looks brilliant
