Spent an hour with me (18st) my mate (14st) stood on the calliper and my old man jumping on a 10mm Allen key to get the bolts off. We got 2 of 8 !

Its ok iv done it :)

Opened a can of worms mind but iv done it. Looks there going to need a new set of seals and one of the pad guide bolts didn't want to come out so had to drill it out. All of the brackets and rebuild kit came today so may as well do the seals.

Well iv F****D the callipers  Firstly the main problem with them is that over time dust and other such crap gets caught behind the pad guides and starts to push them outward as well as eating the metal behind. So to clean them up you need to take out the T25 headed screw, (I actually believe there made from butter) so the head rounds off. Went to remove them with a screw removal set which then snapped off in the hole I drilled :) So drilled it out. And this is where I really messed up. Drilled a bit to far in 3 of them to fully get them all out and in doing so drilled into the reservoirs behind the pistons. Probably the best £150 iv ever wasted. Had ordered the brackets and rebuild kit but will send them back, its a good job I held off of the seal kits. Might just paint them up too look pretty and flog them on e-bay ?

Also my dad has said I can now have his BMW 5 series if I sell the Fiesta. So more than likely now it will be up for sale the beginning of April !

You need to keep this mate, looks top now and these are very tuneable! Dont want an old man car yet.

Stupid Ford design. Was out for a drive yesterday, was going pretty hard I admit so the usual was happening in the driver's footwell ! The exhaust manifold runs right next to your feet and they start to cook :) Then something happened that I have heard about in the ST's when driven hard. The PAS fluid started to boil  got a flash of warning light's on the dash then the steering went solid, Pulled over popped the bonnet to be greeted with a nasty hot smell :dead:. Let it cool down and carried on back home. Thankfully doesn't seem to have caused any damage what so ever, so topped it back up and has been fine today. Oh and I lost a centre cap off the front wheel :(

Now going to wait until payday and chop it in for something a bit more fun (not a Clio mind). Father needs his 5 series now so that's out of the question. Trying to drive the ST fast is quite demanding i have found out, and I find myself stepping out of the car disappointed with it. I knew it wasn't going to be as fast as the Clio but think I underestimated just how much harder it was going to be. Certainly makes you respect just how much of a good car the Clio is though.

Any suggestions on the next car then ? Got a bit of monies to play with (£2500) aswell as the Fiesta. Iam thinking a Civic Type R (wait's for the hail of abuse) or a RS Megane ?

Civic with a bit of dolla spent to sort the steering out.

But go drive some cars and see which ones you fancy.

The civic will leave you disappointed unless you go for either the anniversary or the JDM.

Unless you can pick up an EK9 for that money?

All depends on what you want from a car. As above I'd suggest you drive a few different cars and see what you think. The steering issue in the EP3 is only noticeable when driving hard really. It doesn't bother some people though, personally it isn't a massive deal for me when I've driven them but it does make it harder to drive than other cars.

Having just read about you PAS boil up problem, I can tell you that this is a massive fault with the St's. I work for a motorsport team, we currently run 5 fiesta's in the Dunlop St's championship. This is a common problem with which we can only help by,Using a Oil cooler rad and modifying the PAS cover cap with a pipe, down to a overflow catch tank. Hope this helps?

Get an R26 Chris! Certainly a big step up from the 182's, wish I'd listened to Tim earlier :). Honestly I get out of mine with a massive grin every time I drive it.

Jeez that's cheap. Really cheap infact.

No offence but there's gotta be something wrong with it!

As much as i love mine, id like something newer. Mines a dog though, couldnt let you have it. Old, tinny, rattlebox.

Never say never mate. Does my head in some times. Love driving it quickly but thats the only way it can be driven now. Sometimes i think that things would be easier with something newer and tunable

Hope you're not taking too much of a hit on the ST mate. I think you should aim towards a Mk1 FRS next :)

True I had started to hate the Clio before I chopped that in. Id still love a car to mess about in/with but Im 25 this year and still living at home with no money saved up to move out. As sad as it is to say for the past 4 years my life has pretty much revolved around the cars I have owned. There's more to life than a tin shell with wheels Im sure.
