Would i be mad to sell my Ph1 172 and buy a Ph2 172?

Never driven a ph2 and i guess im sitting here wondering if the grass is greener on the other side!? i do really like my Ph1 and it is a tidy car but im one of those people who gets bored quickly and likes change!

What are peoples views on this?

If your happy with your car stick with it, I've changed for a different car before when I loved the car I had and ended up wishing I had kept my old one because I'd struggle to find another in the same "looked after" condition as the one I had.

I also get bored easy and been thinking about changing cars myself lately but don't think I will because I know I'll most likely regret it.

Plus you wouldn't be gaining much going from a ph1 to a ph2 in my opinion.

I did this when I had a 106 xsi. I'd done loads to it, Bilsteins, Rallye wheels and interior, group N exhaust. Loved the car and it was faultless and i loved it, but wanted more power. Sold it and bought a gti-6, which i bloody hated! Also sold my Williams due to wanting turbo power, so bought a Starlet. The Gt was great, but always missed the Williams. I'd suggest drive one, preferably a Cup to get close to a Ph1 as possible, and see how you get on.

I've only just got my mk1 172 but I don't get why someone would want the newer shaped 172 over the older ones.

Its a nice safe change as its basically the same car, so i dont think you will regret anything. Atleast if you get a ph2 you will get away from the gash interior in the ph1, thats if you care about that though..

But its better than the ph1 imo. I would stick with the ph1 personally, the only reason that I would look to change to a ph2 is if I needed the extra toys like cruise control, auto lights, climate control. If you fancy a change then maybe test a 197 or a meg..

Exactly that, and the reason I loved my Williams. Great road presence, they look pretty mean in the rear view!

i would personally, can't stand the front end of ph1's and as muchas i want to love them i just can't.
There are some gorgeous examples but in standard form i think they're horrid

I don't think there's a big enough difference between the models to keep you happy if you already looking at changing.

I too change my cars very often, but my ph1 is the longest car I've kept!!

It's your choice mate. In all honesty it isn't really worth it, you'll gain some xenons, Cc&esp and a slightly nicer interior. Performance is nigh on the same. It's more of a side grade than an upgrade.

interior in any clio is s**te be it mk1 or mk3 there made from recycled materials or something so its pointless comparing ph1 and ph2 becuase the interior is better as both are 'french'
must say ph1's seem to be the one to go for.
ph2 do look 'normal' as in not sporty, maybe thats why they made the cup or 182 cup and trophy just to get it right.
ph1 should have come out of the factory called the cup!

My advice- Dont do it. I had a 182 (okay slightly different) for 6/7 weeks, half of that time it was in the showroom getting sold. I just couldnt get used to it. Im like you though i get bored easily and look to change. But my circumstances have changed, getting a house with the g/f etc so my priorities lie elsewhere. And tbh honest 99% of the time i love the car, the 1% i dont is driving it after a night out lol. Keep the ph1 mate
