197/200 Brembo Conversion - Wheel Fitment Guide

  Clio 172, MK5 VW GTi
Hello

Can someone please help me confirm a list of what wheels fit on the Pure Motorsport 197/200 Brembo conversion for the 172/182 ?

Specifically, can someone please comment on if the 16" +38mm Team Dynamics 1.2s will fit or if a spacer is required

So far I have found the following:
16" Speedline Turini +45mm offsets - Requires 10mm Spacer
16" Speedline Cup Turinig +38mm - Fit
16" OZ Ultraleggera +38mm - FIT

May be worthwhile posting what the offsets are on each wheel, and what size spacer is required mate. Obviously the cup turini is et38.5 and the trophy items are et45.

16" ultraleggeras fit. I have them on mine no worries.

I dont know for sure but I would suggest theres less room on a standard 182 et45 wheel than there is on a Speedline et45 tropy turini. so yes i would defo say you will need some.

Can somebody with the Team Dynamics also respond ?
Also if you have this setup brake setup up and running please state
- Wheel Type
- Wheel Offset
- If a spacer is required how much

Hello All,

Is anyone aware if 16” Advan RG with ET44 would clear the PMS Brembo set-up with an 8mm - 10mm spacer?

Finding suitable lightweight wheels a challenge in NZ.

Cheers,
David

Ive got a set of Team dynamics 1.2s et35 16s running the 300mm disc kit from pure motorsport and they clear the face of the wheel with pleny room but are close to the barrel of the wheel.

16x7" OZ allegrita et37 300mm disc
Now fitted with 10mm spacers.
Still wanna try 5mn

Hi there,
Do these wheels no clear the caliper without a spacer?

I understand that an ET35 (net of spacer, if any) is the sweet spot from handling perspective.

Many thanks,
David

did some testing with washers, came to nearly 3 mm, so fitten 3 mm spacers now.

Thanks for your reply!

Does that provide 3mm clearance between caliper and spokes? Does the caliper have reasonable clearance from the inner barrel?

I’d be grateful for a photo (or two).

Seriously considering an order (in race gold) for a Monaco blue phase 2 track car. Currently running Turinis - look fab, weight a ton.

Really appreciate your assistance. Trying to organise in NZ a nightmare.

A photo of the wee car follows ...

At some point I'll bolt my brembos on and test a 280mm setup with 15" TD 1.2's, 15" Rota Slipstream, 15" Non-sport dynamique wheels and 16" steel wheels. All with and without spacers. I can imagine they'll all need a spacer but doesnt bother me as I already run them as standard

When I eventually get round to putting them on for goos then anyone that needs wheels testing then give me a shout and you can always pop over and slap a wheel on my car and check fitment beforehand

Cheers feller.

So, if my eyes don’t deceive me, we’re looking at clearance of 1mm on the barrel and 2mm on the spoke?

Just so I’m clear, is that is using the 197/200 caliper and Pure Motorsport bracketry?

Many thanks,
David

Nah barrel clearance looks worse than it is because of a raised edge.
but the calipers don't clear stick on weights.
spokes are 3mm clearance (as reccomended by Brembo) scientifically checked with a 3mm brass rod.

Hardware is by a french guy called Seiz, discs are Hispec, hats are Seiz again

I’m just in the middle of converting mine. I’ve got 15” TD 1.2 ET35, I’ve machined 5mm off the caliper and upon test fitting it’s just catching the wheel. Am I correct in thinking that with ET35 you still need to run a spacer?

I have the pure motorsport kit, running the 300mm discs with 16" TD 1.2s ET 35 and they have a fair amount of room to spare from the face of the wheel and the barrel. Im guessing yours is catching on the barrel?

Yeah so the part just behind the spikes. On the lip so to speak. The rest of it (nuts) clears fine

A little confused. Are the spokes of the wheel hitting the caliper or is the caliper grinding on the barrel of the wheel? If the later of the two, id assume you could just tale a little more off the caliper till it fits? I didnt need to machine mine so not sure how much you can vet away with.

on the barrel of the wheel. I did think that as we took 5mm off but perhaps it wasn’t enough?

I would imagine you could take another mm or two off of that all you need but like i said im not sure how much you can safely remove, maybe someone else can chip in.

The new pure motorsport 280 brackets require a counterbore machining into the caliper 11mm deep, so I think youll be safe to remove a couple more mm if needed.

I have TDS in the same spec and 280mm brembos, they catch by more than “just a bit”. I reckon I’d need a 25-30mm spacer to get them to clear.

I took them to work and took a shaved under 2mm off them now. When I checked I could see I was safe to take at least 3mm before anything would touch the disc hub. Also I have some 1.3mm shims that I can add if I need to add a little back onto them.

So test fitted again and will Defo need a 3mm spacer to clear the spokes as I’m now fouling those. As for barrel clearance I think more is needed to come off. I Whipped the feeler gauges out and apart from the edges of the brakes them salves I could get as little as .05. Everywhere else was nice. So I’m thinking another .5 off or a whole 1mm off. I should still have clearance of the pad pins from the disc along with 3mm spacer and all should be good. It’s a shame I’ve got a track day on Monday and would have liked to have given the brakes a workout along with all the other changes I’ve done over the winter but c'est la vie.

Its strange that i have the same wheel and offset (ET35) but on the 16s and have about a 1cm gap from the wheel spokes and the face of the caliper. Would of imagined they would be the same.

I had no issue with spoke clearance on my 15’s. Rather barrel clearance. I would need considerable spacing for the caliper to clear the diagonal step from lip to barrel.

So after much tinkering and a 3mm spacer I’ve managed to come to this...

Good or bad clearance?
