I had a complete new wiring loom made for my car for £900 , mines ok and does the job , I wish I had gone to http://www.bremax.co.uk/ as they did the loom in the M3 I built a few years ago , they do very good work , use Raychem wires , they charge about £2k for a complete loom , He used to do the wiring for Mitsubishi when they were building WRC cars , and there work is amazing
£3k for your loom is a p1ss take , sorry if your fed up of hearing this again , but I would say its no better than my £900 job

When i was reading Ash's post about the suspension I did think "oh he's (matt) pulled that one again has he!"
Well Ash at least you have the correct Suspension on your car now!
Oh and do you have a Nut Rivet Tool. If not then i would suggest getting one as they are amazingly handy to fix parts to the car in a fancy looking way! We used it a lot when when building Marks Race Car!
Nailed it on the head I think mateI dont think there is any chance at all of Matt coming on here to try and defend what he has done with this car, as clearly its just been a case of everytime James turns up they just see a big chequebook walking up the drive and have milked him for every penny they could while not doing anywhere near a good enough job to justify the expense, James has paid for racecar levels of prep but only received the sort of job on a lot of parts that a hobbyist could have done.
Its a shame as I dont doubt Matt's ability or knowledge, he's clearly a clever guy and does have a lot of experience of certain aspects of racecar preperation without a doubt, but clearly whats been paid for on this car just hasnt happened, and thats before you take into account mistakes like the fact it looks VERY VERY likely (ie I would say certain TBH as why else would one bolt be whole still and the other snapped in half) to me that one of the rod bolts wasnt done up tight enough.
Shocking service to be giving what was a very loyal customer who WASNT doing the usual trick of trying to scrimp and save, he was for once a customer actually prepared to pay to get the job done right but despite that he just got given shoddy work and taken for a ridiculous sum of money
Unfortunately now I have wasted so much money I have got to scrimp and save but will get there with it and can't wait to get back on track!I remember seeing the pictures of yours Ian when you had it done and trust me it's a million times better than mine
Yes I remember speaking with bremax this year at Autosport, the way they work and laid everything out was very clever Haha yes he did lol!
The AST's are great now on mine, still need to do some work though as they are only good in the dry and on a smooth track lol
Funny you say that Chris I was discussing it with a friend the other day that I was going to buy one as it will make easy work of some of the fixings
Out of interest did you use aluminium or steel rivets? I can't decide which tool to buy as one only does aluminium ones

I'd just buy the riv nut kit that does steel and aluminium ones mate. Mine does both and goes up to 10mm.

It's really weird - I have the exact same experience
Ktech have ALWAYS got stuff to me insanely quickly, offered lots of advice and generally been brilliant
Chrispy's project thread was the source of inspiration for everything I've done lol - at one point I had pics of his car up in the garage *blushes*
And Fred will be getting mine over winter to do the refresh - not had him do any work so far but after spending a few days with him I fully 110% trust him to work on my car

It's hardly "swings & roundabouts" when the lad has been ripped off by at least £4k+ for parts paid for and never received. Twattish behaviour.
I also don't really understand all this "motorsport knowledge, lots of expertise etc..." from what I know about certain peoples pasts he hasn't got that much expert knowledge.

So you're working from a s**t load of assumptions there. Maybe you'd like to take a look at MY engine loom that Matt fixed for me after K-Tec wrecked mine? There are a lot of people that feed off bad experiences. I'm not saying you shouldn't take other peoples advice under consideration when choosing who to take your car to - that's a given. But what you shouldn't do is then echo other peoples experiences as if it to be your own. You don't know Matt, what qualifications he has or expertise. You're ripping into someone and their company - over one car.
I could name you more cars than I have fingers and toes that have had to have had further correctional work from other specialists on here, everyone makes mistakes.
What happened with James car is inexcusable and in no way am I defending how it was left, but that doesn't give you the right to slate a company so openly that you've never even used. James is not the only one who's had work done by Tdf and been left with a bad experience , I have as we'll so it's not a one off, Matt makes lots of promises and fails to deliver.

Until he realised what he'd actually (not) got for his money.
Ignorance was bliss for him in the early days, I bet the first couple of dozen grand he spent with them he would have sworn blind they were doing him great work etc, it was only when he then later on found out they lied about the parts, and lied about the work done that he started getting unhappy.
I think every tuner will have good and bad stories, what makes the difference is how they deal with it. From what ive seen on this thread James has been ripped off and paid for parts not fitted and TDF has done nothing to try and deffend themself.
I went through a similar thing with a cosworth a few years ago , put almost 20K into it with the car being away for almost a year then when I got it back it never lived up to the spec and when i stripped it I found ALOT of shocks....

He did, which really makes what's happened to you even more inexcusable, and I do hope you get something out of it mate. I just don't agree with people taking it as far as to say that he doesn't know what he's doing and question his capability, because that simply isn't the case. As many would testify given the need to. I just think it's uncouth for people to just jump on the band wagon unless they've been in the same boat with TDF (As you know I have my gripes also). And it wrecks what's otherwise now a pucker project thread

I don't blame James at all for that, I wouldn't of expected anywhere near the cheek he's received from the accused. But such is life, didn't take much for Frederick to turn it around

You dont blag your way that far up the "motorsport" world by knowing nothing. Iirc matt worked for cosworth and prodrive, im pretty sure you dont blag your way through an interview there..
Ktec brought out a clutch and flywheel package that put the EML light on the Meganes, thats never been fixed or refunded, so im not sure how you can dislike one and not the other..
Im another that has has very good service from Matt time and time again...
I was told I would get a car capable of been very competitive in the series, I was told it would be complete and ready to test on the 7th November 2011, I was also expecting it to be to the specification that I payed for. None of the above happened I spent months getting some of the jobs completed that should of been done by last November which got finished in August of this year. The end result is that by next season I will of spent 3 times what needed to be spent on the car to get it to the right spec at the end of the day. If the advice and promises I had been given were correct and the car done to the specification I paid for then as a paying customer I would of been 100% happy but that didn't happen.
I also don't doubt Matts ability what so ever, I have seen some of the work he has done and it is top stuff. Unfortunately to turn out high quality work day in day out takes a lot of passion and I don't blame him if this was lacking on occasions. The obvious problem I have got is that I was promised something that I didn't get! I don't want to sit here and argue about it, I'm merely documenting the work I'm doing to the car over winter and that will of course show the work that is been done to rectify previous work.

Indeed, its fair to say he is a liar, a con artist a fraudster etc, as that is demonstrably true from the way he has cold heartedly ripped off James, but that doesnt mean he doesnt know how to do the work if instead of deciding to defraud james of 10s of thousands of pounds for work not done to standard and parts wrongly labelled etc he had decided to be honest instead and perform to the best of his ability. Im sure he could have done, he just didnt cause he felt like being lazy/dishonest instead.

Hmmm so this car is a bit of a showcase for the company yet the workmanship is poor , yes thats a good advert for the company , knowing full well its a thread on here also with lots of clio owners viewing
I've stayed out of this until now as I consider Matt a mate and my thoughts on the matter will be expressed to him and James if they care to hear them. Anyway I think the points been made enough and we should let the project thread continue without further bandwagon jumping, it's spoiling a good build diary!
what a ridiculous comment!, how can you possibly compare that situation with this one. i hardly think that a clutch kit that causes the EML to be on is comparable to conning a guy out of thousands of pounds.
if it was just a case of a shitty job, that would be forgivable, and i would agree in saying its not fair to slate him for it, after all everyone has off days.
but what you first said was correct, he has a great deal of knowledge and experience in motorsport and with these cars, which leaves only one conclusion. he knowingly gave james the incorrect items and told him and billed him for far superior ones. that is not forgivable, and IMO, i think james has been very tidy about it all as he has only made public a very small portion of the issues, he could of taken it a whole lot further
