Right, have had a few quotes for an alternator for my 16v - £72 from Andyspares.com and £170 from Halfords:cry: Better not ask Renault then!!
Anyway, Ive had a look at my engine bay and have decided that Id like to let the pros have a pop at it, as one of the auxillary belt allen key holes has...
Further to my last post about a suspect starter motor, my car must have been reading too and has responded by presenting me with another clue to the problem!!
When going along the motorway, my battery light flashes red when I indicate, use an electric window, or turn the stereo up loud. But...

My 16v is hesitating a little on start up occasionally - but these occasions seem to be getting more regular!! I reckon its the starter motor on its way out, as you can hear it having difficulty turning over on the first few turns.
So how much is it to have a starter motor fitted (including...

Ive got a 1994 Phase 2 16v, with the speakers at the front of the car replaced by branded ones (13cm door and 10cm dash), to compliment the rest of the system.
Sadly, my left hand door bottom 13cm speaker is not happy at the moment. Ive checked the speaker and its OK. So it must be the...
Couple of niggling faults that, in His wisdom, are blocking my road to spritual fulifilment at the moment
Firstly, my rear washer jet is poo-pooing the party at the back of my 16v by dribbling washer fluid all over the back of the car. Is this a faulty motor or a faulty control stalk? (the...

I was on the way home to my village this morning when a circa 1993 Fiesta Turbo came up behind me. When the cars ahead cleared, I wellied it to 70mph (the limit), blew away the Fester with its dump valve hissing - and slowed down in good time for the upcoming roundabout.

I was the black 16v in front of you with the black wheels, all the way onto the M5. Do you work at that finance office thats tucked just off Melrose Place in Clifton??
Youll see mine and my mates 16vs (his is red with 17s) both parked in...

Well, finally I came up against one tonight. I was getting ready for a close encounter, as people with Williams/16v Clios have posted about being beaten by them. To be honest, it wasnt actually as quick as I expected - especially off the mark. Definitely was a real one - I should know: my...

Ive just been thinking - surely if you could control the wheelspin on a car like a moded FWD car like the 16v then youd get better acceleration times. Like 0-60 an 1/4 miles??
Is that right - and if so, how much/how possible is it to fit is to a 16v??
Cheers

About six weeks ago I happened across an Audi S2 estate on the A198 near Edinburgh (not the Porsche developed RS2). In the 20 or so miles and half an hour to Edinburgh, I had probably the closest “race” of my time with my mod’ed 16v Clio. What the roads really tested was handling, flexibility...

My flatmate has a K-reg (on a private plate) Phase 1 Clio 16v in flame red. Hes near to buying a CTR - sorry, couldnt get him to buy a 172 - and will probably be selling the 16v privately.
Its more or less standard: apart from some five spoke 17s, Pipercross induction and a Magnex...

My Valver sits about -35mm all round with pretty much brand new Yokohama A539 tyres. The hanlding in the dry is simply stunning and I love it.
But in the wet its a different matter. Id appreciate your thoughts:
- When Im exiting roundabouts in 2nd gear (in the wet), I just get...

My Valver and I have had loads of fun beating up highly regarded opposition on the UKs A and B roads in recent times. But Ive never come up against a 205 1.9 GTi - and I want to know just how theyd compare to a moded 16v!!
(I secretly wanted one at the time I got my 16v, but its difficult to...

Hiya mate
I remember seeing you in my mirror in Southend a few weeks ago at the meet - your sidelights were on and looked ace because the bulbs were really distinct from the headlamp as a whole (you know most bulbs just fill the headlamp lens).
So what bulbs are you running?
