I had similar symptoms a couple of years ago. When I checked with a meter, the alternator was putting out 14V at tick-over but 18V when revved, i.e. the regulator on the alternator had failed. I was lucky as once I replaced the alternator everything was fine, the excess voltage could easily have...
had a similar issue once, got a Lucas alternator and it didn't work. Nothing wrong with it when bench tested, but would not work in the car ( 53, 172 ). Auto electricians rebuilt my existing Valeo alternator instead.
you could, but if the system has been open to atmosphere for any length of time there is a good chance dryer will be f**ked, and if the dryer isn't doing it's job the rest of the aircon system isn't going to last long. I would replace it as a matter of course.
When my last alternator went, I had it reconditioned for £75 . The resulting unit, has lasted longer than both the two new genuine renault units I had previously.
Had my 172FF 10 years this month, apart from servicing and consumables like tyres and brakes. had quite a few little things but nothing major, unless you count your alternator bursting into flames on the M6 as major.
Exhaust fell off; replaced with yozza
3 Alternators
2 windscreen washer pumps...
I just had mine arrive back this morning, amazing quality the pictures really do not do them justice.
The price was £120 + £20 P&P.
mine took exactly 2 weeks from me removing the wheel and posting it to getting the wheel back.
Really ? Maybe I've just been unlucky with new ones then. I don't doubt Fred knows what he's talking about, but my personal experience of new alternators from Renault has lead me to believe they are not much better than cheap refurbs.
My alternator has been replaced 3 times, The first two...
Actually not all that bad a job, I just did mine today.
Bumper off
Slam panel off
Jubilee clip around the tensioner spring to stop it expanding.
out with alternator, in with new one
remove jubilee clip
Slam Panel on
Bumper on
Job done
For me the hardest part was the bumper off, as I never...
When I took my clio out a couple of days ago, it started flashing up a bewildering array of warning lights STOP, SERV, ABS, ESP, BRAKE warning and AIRBAG also other functions controlled by the stalks stopped working - most notably the indicators. Whenever I stopped or dipped the clutch the...
it gives you an aux 3.5mm jack that can be used as a straight fwd line in.
, an ipod connector ( I've never used this as I don't have an ipod )
, and a USB port.
I plug a USB memory stick into it. The headunit then see's each album on the memory stick as a CD, as if you had a 100 CD changer...
I have a Yozza Stealth, it's been on 3yrs now, and can confirm it is quiet.
In my opinion it is just a tad louder than std at tickover and when you put your foot down, but when cruising there is more tyre noise than exhaust noise.
I've had a YS Stealth for 18mths or so, and I really don't think that video does it justice.
As an old duffer who didn't want a loud exhaust, I thought it was most definitely louder than standard when I first installed it, and a bit boomy at m-way speeds. However it soon mellowed, and it now...
mine is a 53 plate, first registered Jan 04, and it has cruise control. I seem to recall seeing that it was manufactured in 0ct 03, but I can't remember where.
Anyway at the time (jan 04) the end of line 172's were being sold off cheap, and they were stacked up high at my local car discount...
there really isn't much else. Camcorders work at 25fps to be compatible with our TV format (PAL), or 30fps for the US format (NTSC) . The Casio EX-F1 represents a very big step forward in affordability of high speed video. Before it came out you'd be looking at thousands if not tens of thousands...
I don't think you'll find one,
I believe CCTV cards that are described as say 200fps are because they can do 8 channels at 25fps each, but still 25fps max per channel.
The cheapest way of getting high speed video I know of is using the casio EX-f1 camera, up to 1200fps but that's over £500. I...
In my experiance the Yozza stealth while no louder (volume) is quite a different sound to std. It produces a really nice deep throaty tone, and you certainly know it's there when booting it.
The shocks are the original ones (never been changed, so 4yrs, 25k miles), but I did check them over when I fitted the springs and they looked fine.
Alignment hasn't been checked yet, as I was waiting for the springs to bed in.
I put eibach pro-kit springs on a couple of weeks ago, and I don't think I like 'em. On a good surface they're fine, I was very impressed with how they performed when I took a trip up the A7 last week. However most of my "fun" driving is on poorly maintained B roads, and here's where I have a...
nope, not tried them yet. I was just remembered seeing them at a much better price that than the genuine renault item. I'm sure they're also available at other suppliers for similar prices. It may be worth phoning a local motor factor.
a 500 mile round trip that I take regularly 75% Mway, 25% Aroad used to average 40.1 mpg with the car std. Done it twice since fitting RStuner map, yozza stealth, and panel filter 40.2 mpg both times. So sod all difference to mpg really.
you should be able to pick them up at a motor factors.
they are 6.80 + vat for an axle set of clips at www.brakeparts.co.uk,
( look up rear brake pads then click associated parts )
but it'll probably cost more than that for delivery, so try a local motor factor first.
I use the 3 one very successfully, have always got good high speed ( 1.5mb + ) connections.
I heard vodaphone's stuff is only fast in London, certainly not good in deepest darkest Lancashire.
3 and T-mobile share the same 3g network, so you should get the same connectivity from either. You...
