Hi folks,
Long story short - some idiot reversed into me yesterday. Damage to my car was minimal thankfully (scuffed / scratched paint and a big dent in my Renault badge). He has admitted fault (with the roads being so quiet recently he didn't think it was necessary to check his mirrors before...
Hi all,
The engine on my 1.4S (X-plate) has started to make a loud clattering noise on startup. It disappears after 20-odd seconds which made me think that perhaps it was low on oil, but the level appears to be normal. Any thoughts? Sounds like the valves clattering away.
Ta in advance.
Think I may have worn wheel bearing(s) on the rear, but just want to ask what the obvious signs are. I haven’t jacked up the car yet to see if there’s any play/wheel movement, but a few weeks back a droning noise started to become audible above 70mph. Now the noise appears between 30-40mph, but...
I’ve had a trawl through the various threads on key fob issues, but couldn’t find anything to match my query... basically my key fob won’t activate central locking/immobilizer. I’ve replaced the battery and the red lights flashes when I press the button, so I assume all’s well with the switch...
Has anyone with a Samsung Galaxy Ace experienced problems with the voicemail notifications? I have a notification alert which I simply cannot seem to get rid of. I called my own mobile phone from a landline to leave a message, just to test if the function worked. I recorded and left a message...
Hi all
I’m probably one of the few people left on the planet without a mobile phone, however I quite fancy a smart phone mainly for internet usage.
I’m thinking of going down the contract-free route of buying an unlocked phone, but wondered if this is the best way? I will rarely use the...
I have an electrical question for anyone who understands the working of amps, volts, etc.
My Dyson (DC04) has developed a snag in the power cable resulting in a severed earth wire. My thinking is to cut the damaged section out and join the wires using a two-core connector. Simple!
However...
Quote from Joe Saward's F1 blog:
"Renault has announced that it is relaunching the Gordini name as a range of sporty cars. The first car to be given the Gordini treatment will be the Twingo with plans to follow up with the Megane and Clio. It is not clear what will happen to the current...
Hi
Was reading with interest the FAQ on V6 ownership over at v6clio.net. Under the ‘what’s annoying with the car’ thread is a mention about lack of storage space, however (and I quote):
“trips to IKEA for armchairs have been successfully made in V6s”.
I find this amazing; are there any...
I was at the dentist this morning and heard on the radio that Renault is offering free MOTs and servicing this weekend only on all makes and models.
Anyone else aware of this or was it just the anesthetic effecting my hearing?
Hi
The other day I noticed a Ford Fiesta (parked at Bluewater in Kent) with its bonnet raised about an inch at the top end and therefore no longer flush to the wing panels or bulk head. Is this just a broken bonnet or some form of mod? My initial reaction was that it presented a security risk...
I’ve noticed that one of my MK2 PH1 Sports headlights is going a bit yellow and according to someone who works on cars professionally, it’s just another Clio fault – the glass turning yellow over time because of the heat from the bulbs. Is this right? Is there a solution, other than not driving...
My wing mirrors are losing their lacer and I wondered if there’s anything that can be used to completely strip/remove it and then replace, or will I have to start from scratch and sand the covers down, re-spray and re-lacre?
Some kind, considerate person decided that I no longer have any use for my wing mirrors and broke them off the mounts for me last night.
So, colour coded wing mirrors - obviously you can't a complete colour coded mirror and Renault informed me that the replacement glass and mechanism will...
Monaco blue 172, Woolwich area, SE London, always parked up as I see it every day (just off Church Street??? behind a block of flats) when I travel home on the train of an evening
Looks beautiful and it really brightens up my day.
Just noticed the carpet in the passenger side footwell was soaking wet when I removed the matt at the weekend. Checked the water bottle level to see if any leaks could have been the cause but the bottle was full.
Could this just be condensation build up? The carpet was dry when I checked it...
I was having a chat with a friend a while back concerning car alarms, immobilisers – security stuff in general – and his advice was that if you’re totally paranoid about vehicle theft then they are ways to ensure your car goes nowhere, even if thieves manage to disable the alarm and immobiliser...
If there was a CS award for the best mechanically modified clio (all models), who in your opinion would get the award?
For me I guess it would be MikeTs Vee - which I believe is still on the road despitea recent 'moment' in the wet.
Mechanical mods only so 1.2s with Vee body kits need not...
Vee owners - need to learn how to park properly

Hi folks
Looking to purchase a pressure washer for around £60-£70 and wondered which bar rating to go for? I’ll be hosing the car down where it’s parked on the street outside of my house, so while I need something to shift the dirt, I’d like to avoid dousing anyone else parked in the street...
What a pro - he doesn't just clean his car, but 'agitates' it first.
Nice M3 too, wish I could find an E36 lying around in a garage with only 7K on the clock.

This might be a re-post, given that this episode of TopGear is a few years old now, but here goes anyway: In the episode where Clarkson drives the S-Type Jaguar around the Nurburgring, a blue Clio with a huge ClioSport sticker on the rear window is just about visible (if you pause the picture)...
Hi all
For a while now I have experienced problems with the handbrake on my 1.4 S. After I clean the car, or drive in the wet, the handbrake sticks.
Sometimes it's minor with the brake discs remaining locked once the handbrake is released, and then releasing when you pull away. This sounds...
Probbaly won't get much joy on here, but here goes anyway.
Spotted: one stupid tw** in a white ‘slammed’ Audi A3 Quattro heading towards Bluewater (down the House of Frazer car park approach) on Saturday 5th.
Drove right up my arse, undertook, then overtook and undertook various other cars...
