Now my cars pretty much had all the work done to that it that it will need for the forseeable future, circumstances have it that it needs to go :(
It is a 51 plate 172 in flame red, 2 previous lady owners, 44k on the clock, belts done a year ago at 32k, 4 premium tyres that have done under 1k...
I never trust it tbh.. I put in £20 of V-power the other day after the tank was nearly completely empty. Apparently the tank is 11 gallons? well £20 filled the tank up to just under a quarter, and after i'd used 2 gallons the gauge read completely empty. So I just go by £5 = around 0.8 gallons...
Been on (intermittently) whilst driving for a few months now and still not got any closer to knowing what it is.
Is it likely to be a faulty sensor? or just electrics? anyone with any experience with this it would be nice to get some advice :)
Thanks for any suggestions
Never understood the people who manage to consistently get 40+ mpg.. on a motorway fair enough, but round town.. you might as well have bought a 1.2.
I drive my 172 what I would describe as 'normally' for the kind of person who would buy the car, and average is around 24-30, generally round...
First one i've ever seen... anyones off here?
it was parked up by the lights at the junction on widney lane in solihull on sunday.
Looked very nice either way
Didn't see a point in starting a new thread.. but the problem is still going lol. Nothing at all seems to be different about how the car runs, but the oil / stop light intermittently just flash on and off while im driving. Any ideas?
Yeh they agreed there had been no impact which caused the issue. Didn't take any pictures stupidly since we were assured it would all be dealt with with no problems. :dapprove:
I bought 4 new pirelli's for my 172 and 2 months and 2000 miles later one of the tyres seemed to 'develop' a rather large bulge in the sidewall.
Took it back to the place where we bought the tyres and they said they can't see any impact mark on the wheel matching the problem area so it can...
I don't abuse the car anymore than what I would call 'average' for someone who owns a hot hatch, but I still only get no more than 250 miles to £50 of V-power.
Since the oldest 182 still costs at least £1000 more than the newest cup (2003 vs 2004?) it probably is worth downgrading if someone is looking to save a bit of cash.
Personally id try knock them down to at least 4k.
My 172 with the same year and mileage and FSH was 3700, and that was from a garage, and cups are meant to be cheaper?
Sounds like a nice find though.
I think you missed the point, quite badly. He said he likes the looks of the ph2 - my point was that if he is persuaded by people on here to get the ph1, while deep down he prefers the ph2, he will only regret it.
It weighs less, and people say it just feels more raw in general, being much less refined than the ph2.
For a second toy car the ph1 makes more sense as you could get a much better example for 3k but if you are set on the looks of the ph2 I wouldn't go for a ph1 - you will only end up wishing...
My oil (pressure?) warning light has been on for a while now, never really known what it is and a mechanic friend couldn't see anything wrong with the car when it first happened so i've been driving in it ever since, and nothing has happened but im wondering what it could actually be as it might...
Depending on your particular cars setup, and how deep the pothole was, it's possible it was the exhaust catching on the road, or maybe a hard bit of snow that you didn't see? they make loud noises if they are compact enough and can take a hit from a car without braking.
Its a slight bit pricy IMO, if you could get it for 3500 it would be a more fair deal. My 2002 172 with 32k on the clock cost 3700, with FSH and belts done from a dealer.
The other day a number of problems started happening all at once. My radio started turning off on its own whilst in use, it no longer automatically turns off when you take the keys out of the car, and I also noticed that the climate control / AC doesn't come on straight away, sometimes you have...
