Am I too old to own a Valver

I admit, Im knockin on a bit now (32) and Ive noticed that most 16v owners are in the 17-24 age group. It really hit home the other day when I pulled up to a set of lights and this little bumfluff in his valver rolled his window down and said "mind that car doesnt give you a heart attack grandad!" Well, the cheek of it! I ask u, it didnt even really make me feel any better when I left him fannying around at the lights trying to find 1st gear because his atomic kitten cd got jammed in his clutch pedal.

Are we older peeps not allowed to own one anymore? I still love it but just because I dont want to spend 3k on a stereo (sorry, awesome ice) system and get some tinted windows Im not allowed to own one. Im seriously thinking of getting shot of it and getting a Saab instead!..please help..

Im 29 and have a Williams - you need to get out more if your worrying about what other people think.

Used to walk past a Escort Cosworth on my way to work back in 1991 - the only one I had seen. It was owned by some 80 year old bloke.

He now has a Audi RS6 and is in his 90s!

im 22 and drive a 172, (it may not be a valver buts its the same kind of class of car), and id like to think if at 32 i chose to drive the same kind of car (because i still chose to) it wouldnt be a problem. If you like it, then i for one dont see any problem. Enjoy it, and sod everyone else!! (thats what i say)

Look at jas and chavy, both ready for pipe and slippers and they have valvers. Age means nothing as long as you are happy with the car you drive. My old man is enjoying himself in a Celica. Hes into his 50s now.

Erm.. ok, ive just recently bought a new Valver... the guy who i bought it from, bought it from BRAND NEW... ok.. this guy is hmm late 50s, and you know what his reason for selling was?? HES BUYING A CUP!!

Its ironic, when I was 22 I had a Triumph TR6 150bhp that I rebulit from the ground up and the only people who came up to talk to me about it were 50+.Now Im 10 years older and own a valver the only people who come and talk to me are 20 year olds!

Funny enough my mate at work was showing me his new car today, a Triumph TR6 and he is in his forties.

I am 32 and had a 172 for 2weeks, all bought and paid for.

The bumfluff at the lights is probaly paying stacks of insurance and a massive loan to repay for the car itself.

I actually like having an old hot hatch. I feel like the underdog whenever i race something, The way i like it

I am 35 and so when has age ever been related to what car you drive?

I would feel like a pratt driving a saxo, but then who wouldnt.

At the end of the day most 17-24 year olds end up selling theirs pretty quick cos they cant afford the insurance and running costs, you forget that 3 years ago the average cost for a valver was about 5k sh.

29 here and have a valver. missed out on all the cars i wanted when i was younger for a number of reasons. its a great car. comfy, very quick and mine has been reliable over the 7 months ive had it, not a thing has gone wrong.

keeps you young m8, and in my book thats a good enuf reason. cant beat the 4k revs smile, even now.

If you worried what people thought of everything youd never set foot outside your front door, who cares if one youngun looked at you a bit weird, im almost 29 now and i intend to keep my clio a long time.

So dont worry about it keep enjoying it and only change when you stop feeling that.

Oh and btw driving home this morning passed a old couple in a white valver !!!! grey hair the lot he was even wearing a cap.

yeah the main advantage of getting older is that you can get the insurance on top motors. If I were you m8 I would sell the valver........to get an EVO!!

I think its great older guys (no offence im 24) drive hot hatchs cos when you have a tear up with them they are ok about it and give you a flash (no jokes please), most of the young lads in there VTSs etc want a fight you after a freindly tear up.!! just be confident in whatever you decide to drive and dont bother about what other people think.

to true a couple of years back I was a passenger in a williams 2 in this situation we went flat out along our local dually until we got to the traffic lights at the end then we all just smiled and laughed at each other and went our own seperate ways

I was in a works van when i saw a MINT grey valver pull into petrol station out of it gets a 60yr woman!!!! If she aint had a heart atack yet doubt youll get 1 for a while. When i had my 1.2 there was an OLD bloke ( 50s atleast )(no offense) and he was in a valver ! We were on a dual carriageway and i was cooming to overtake him, he changes down a gear and leaves me GOBSMACKED, it was so funny .... we both then pulled into PC world and he was grinning like a cheshire cat, he then started to tell me bout his car. Through all this he had his missus in the passenger seat ! I hope Im like that when Im old !

SO....... KEEP THE VALVER...... DITCH THE SLIPPERS........ BURN OFF SOME RAT MONKEYS...... AND LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST !!!!

Hi all! I am 28 and I bought 1.6 16V Clio from my friend as he bought new one 2.0 16V! And he is 35 and enjoys that car as noone I ever met! I mean, as I am talking to him about that cars his eyes are glittering and he become a child with a brand new toy!!! It is crazy man!!! I have an Audi A3 1.8 and am selling it as I bought the Clio and I am amazed with that piece of work!!! A friend bought that one 2,5 years ago and went to Paris where he tuned the car and it flows very, very nice!!! And I think age does not have anything to do with the cars!
