They look spot on mate, really good.

Don't judge me or think I'm a mental case for what I'm about to tell you. I had a dream that I bought this last night, only it was green. It also had a habit of pissing out oil (also green) which could only be fixed by hitting the engine with this bit of wood that was kept in the boot.

You know you spend too long on here when you start dreaming of the cars, ffs.

FPMSL!

That is properly random.

Although the oil bit is quite apt at the moment, it breathes heavier than Daniel between course at an all you can eat rib shack as it really needs a new set of things.

11, I said 10 others, and 10 plus this 1 is 11, if you spent more time in the classroom and less in the cafeteria you would know that fatty, lol

Stop nit picking its still too many. Says he with 5 cars parked outside his house and three in the unit... LOL!

Issues much?! lol.

Especially when you get up at 5am to get on here... (Yes, I saw you were on here then!)

Couple of quick updates, nothing mega exciting though.

Ive swapped to a cup alternator setup now instead of the modified non cup version it was running, just so that its easier to do the belt etc in future.

Have also added some new number plates.

And finally im just making up a return from the oil breather back to the sump, like we use for the Group A rallycar setup on sierra and escort cosworths, as the rings are a bit on the knackered side now so its breathing quite heavy and I dont want the breather filling up on track.

Not got pics of that though, as its not somewhere you can see really plus is only some pipework and not very interesting to look at anyway, lol

Just noticed you can also see my pure motorsport top mounts and strutbrace in one of those pics, thats handy cause I completely forgot to write about that, lol

That stealth exhaust is ace lol.

In what way?

Its just a plain downswept stainless outlet, doesnt seem anything ace about it to me TBH, or anything awful enough to make me think you were being sarcastic.

TBH I dont really pay much attention though to stuff like what style exhaust a car has in the first place so Im probably not the right person to comment. All I care is well it flow the air or not and will it pass sound check.

Just that it looks like one of those 10ltr diesel ones you get on buses and alike lol. It suits the application really, not mocking it, love this car!

Fair enough mate, its essentially the same as the one on my nova, just plain stainless pipe and no "finish" to it.
I come from a rallying part of the country, so that seems perfectly normal to me, lol

Have you had a go in it yet (when jack owned it or whatever I mean?) if not make sure you grab me somethimg to take you out in it or let you drive it.

And dont forget you owe me an F1 at some point, been fecking ages now, when you said I would have it back for llandow I thought you meant the last one, and we're nearly at the next one now, lol

  Evo 5 RS
lol, has James not spoken to you? He owes me one and said he'd get you one! I'll have to catch him next week as I'm up that way. Not been in it yet no. I've driven a 250bhp turbo one though so know what it's like, not that any two are ever the same.

Not a lot to say other than it was eff'ing quick tbh lol.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Ah no mate, not seen James lately.

Hope its a straight one then, cause he did have some right wobblers back along IIRC, lol

  Evo 5 RS
Yeah he sold em to me hence why he was looking for a straight one pmsl.

(He hadn't used them so wasn't to know)

Think in the end there was only one that was straight, and that might of been the one you gave me!

Off to Bedford for the evening renaultsport session in it today, keep annoying the mrs by blasting off on boost for no reason while she is following. Lol

Didnt get long out on track at bedford before I got black flagged as I was having problems with the breather setup even after I had modified it.

At the weekend though I made some more changes, including nicking my mrs breather so that i had two of them and routed her one back into the dipstick tube which has totally stopped the liquid oil from accumulating in the breather system now and allowed me to participate without any problems at silverstone on sunday.
Desperately needs a set of rings though, cant believe its still going considering its now peaking to 25psi and breathing so heavy, but it seems to just want to keep going and going anyway!

2 more events left now, combe on saturday and then llandow in a fortnight, so will see if I can limp it through those, then after that I will pull the engine out and rebuild it properly.

Was having all sorts of camera problems at the weekend, but did manage to get a few minutes footage at silverstone, I will upload it when I get a chance.

Have posted this in the media section, but just adding it to this thread as well to keep it all in one place.

Good vid mate. Sounds like you get a lot of wheel spin coming out of bends and need to short shift or is that just me?

Sounds very nice though, can't wait till mine is back on the track. :(

Some of the bends were a bit damp, so there wasnt a lot of traction, TBH though despite the fact you can hear the wheelspin in the video, it was still driving kind of ok as it was spinning up, it still accelerates a bit providing the wheels are only spinning a bit not a massive amount.

But yes im sure short shifting would help, or better boost control even more so, was only out for a bit of fun though, wasnt taking it seriously, the current engine is only a very temporary thing anyway, got 2 more trackdays in the next couple of weeks and then I will be pulling it out to rebuild it.

I bet that engine would propel a 860kg mk1 along very nicely!! LOL!

Can't believe how well it picks up!!

Well you have the same:
Block
rods
pistons
ecu

I bet me, dan and mike in a long weekend over winter could get yours to similar power for about 1500 quid in parts given that you are already on the same ecu as me anyway if you do a few basic bits yourself first like find space to fit an intercooler etc. ;)

Lol. Didn't know that. Not seen him for ages. Saw he put a 14xe in a mini though. Looked good

Yeah it's been in the garage for agesssss it's for a friends son apparently. Pretty cool for a first car if you ask me!

Out of interest which car do you prefer for track work? This one or one of the N/A ones? And I mean fun wise, rather than which is "best".

Beyond epic first car!

Do you mean just out of my current clios or in general?

Sorry, I meant clio wise as I can only imagine it can be a little difficult to get the power down in the turbo'd car but then again, it being a little livelier on track might make it more fun than the N/A ones.

Tbh mate, i'd be more for reliability, so if it was 'only' running 220bhp but it gave me a bit more reliability, i'd be happy.

Tbh if we throw a set of rings and rod bolts in while the head is off there really isn't much point going below 250.
Mine did 8k miles on a really tired engine with more power than that.

Depends on the track really. The rs2 car at Llandow in the wet was amazing. I was able to slide it around really well as its mega controlable and has plenty of power for that size track in those conditions. Bigger track and dry weather and the turbo is more fun as the rs2 one is too easy to drive, although my mrs who has only done about 20 trackdays much prefers the rs2 car all the time.
My old very light mk1 with lightly tuned Williams engine was very very good as an all rounder so the new mk1 with the same engine should be good too although is a little heavier cause of the cage.

Ultimately 250bhp+ with proper tps based boost control and a LSD in a mk1 is where I want to be. Which is my current long term project, should have it done by early 2014 hopefully.

All round though None of it comes close to the hilarity of my nova though. That's the most fun you can have without coke and hookers.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Lol I can imagine my place being like a scene out of initial D if that weekend happens lol

I could drag the nova up as well to put the new compound charged engine in, just in case the one car doesnt present enough of a challenge for us like, lol

Love it. You going to the forge day at combe Saturday?

Yes mate, I am going to limp the thing up there and see if it has a couple more sessions left in this ultra tired bottom end or not.

Im usually pretty quick round combe (could do 1:24 in my F7R mk1) so if it does work I should think i'll get on quite well with it.
If it doesnt work then it will probably involve horrific engine related carnage as I really shouldnt be driving an engine breathing so heavy that hard, so either ways its probably worth a watch

Im out first on the 10:45 session, and will decide based on how it goes on that one if I use it for any of the others we've got or not (we have 6 sessions but the mrs will drive for 3 and will probably prefer the N/A one)

Ah good stuff. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Saw your video last night chip, so impressed with the turbo looks like so much fun. Miles more fun than a planted Evo on the track. Did you have any tyres left after the run at Silverstone?

Hope to see it on the 14th. Thats if you have worked out which car to take lol
