update time!

was a bit of a rush in the end to get it ready for anglesey on the 16th but just about managed it. Day was a bit of a wash out weather wise so didnt really get to push it all day but car behaved perfectly, no issues which was nice. car just needs a quick check over and good to go again, just need to find next track day

Well Oulton didn't go to plan at all. I have finally found the limits of the shafts!

First session on semis went without hitch had a good run out with a quick super charged BMW can be seen in video below. weather was good so put the slicks on which have been on before a good few times. started getting heat into them and went for it. Coming out of the 1st chicane "brittens" went to 4th and BANG sounded bad, engine was still running but no drive so guessed at driveshaft. I think 315BHP 220 torque for 4 years on slicks has finally seen them off :( gutting it was so early in the day but these things happen.

one and only vid of the day, have lowered the go pro a bit so can actually see the road now:

then if you have ever wondered what its like to get towed round oulton park

My brother was also there in his megane engined clio, managed another session than me and came in with what sounds like bottom end dead! so not a good day for us at all. We stayed for the rest of the day with ste in his civic that was going well until the last session of the day he had an off on island bend at about 125mph! he was very lucky can didnt hit any barriers or roll. tyres picked up stones along the way!

To round the day off my brother went to fill the audi tow car up and put unleaded into the diesel! we should have stayed at home

plans are now to have driveshafts made from scratch as the power will only ever go up from here. i have sorted a passenger side one already but the drivers (the one that died) i need making up. have found a company called Berrisford but open to other suggestions if people have used any before? around the £200 mark per shaft from these.

Final thing is is new suspension is on the way in some shape of form not 100% of this yet but over summer it will be chnaged as i still run GAZ gha and its finally going stand alone ECU SCS Delta is the ecu of choice that will happily control the VVT on the 250 engine and means i can rip anything megane related from the wiring side. so long winter rebuild coming i think. Chris at EFI parts will be mapping and mate of mine doing the wiring

Bloody hell what a day mate!

Lucky it was just a driveshaft, gutting to end the day early though.

Your mate was very lucky to go off at Island Bend with only gravel rash, there's no where to go really apart from the tyre wall ?

he was, he decided he could take it flat at 125 but turns out you cant. car dug in and went up on its side but luckily came back down! Lesson learnt

heard good things about dave mac shafts, shall give him a shout also

How do you find these mate? And what spring rates do you use?

hes keeping engine, going to be took apart to see whats failed and built back with a spare one he has.

the GHA are ok but then i have nothing to compare to. i run 550 front 650 rear i think from memory

driveshaft is now at the shop being built from scratch, the spares bits that i bought had a passenger side one already built so we have fitted that. 4-6 weeks on the shafts though so october time now to test. new ECU has turned up so will be fitting and wiring that over winter time

update time finally!

Driveshaft is back and looks like a work of art very impressed with that. shaft is in and built gear oil replaced so that part is ready to go

stand alone, have decided to go stand alone and have been talking allot to chris at EFI parts. We are going for an SCS delta ECU as its one of the few that will let me retain the fly by wire and control the 250 VVT properly. i have the ecu and have made a start on wiring it. There are not too many diagrams of a 250 out there let alone the miss match of bits that my car is so progress is slow there. we can talk to the ECU and see air temp water temp throttle pedal but not much else yet. there are no diagrams for the 250 throttle body so allot of trial and error going on. pictures speak a thousand words!

suspenion, AST time! 5100's were on offer over the feative period so have finally got some proper suspenion on there. they are fitted and car is back on its wheels in need of a GEO setup. we have got some geo poles to try this ourself so not sure weather to trust that yet or back to blink for a geo setup.

MMM spaghetti! Looks like a nightmare to figure out. You may as well do the geo yourself then take it to be checked. Then you'll know if it needs doing in future if you're paying or not.

that will help, cheers will certainly give it a go. The camber is actually measuring positive on the front at the min but only threw them on quickly so will see if I can adjust the camber bolts on that one.

wiring looks a mess at the min but we are just trying to make sure everythings working before tidying everything up. we knew the throttle body would be the pain as SCS don't make an ecu for a 250 so working with 197 diagrams. back there tomorrow PM with a bit more info to try

well it runs once again! the 12v feed for the fuel pump/coils isnt working for some reason from the ECU but when given a direct feed to both she did actually fire up.

plan is to tidy the loom now properly check the sensors are working speak to SCS around this wire and get it booked for mapping!

Cars wired engine bay side done, inside is still a bit rough but enough to book the mapping in. its in with efi parts Tuesday the 5th.

due to the ECU being for a clio 197 and us wiring it not 100% sure it will fully function and be fully mapped with power run etc as some of it is guess work but will see what chris can do. hopefully everything is fine, the car runs and i can map the fuel table to keep it running but cant test things like VVT or boost solenoid as i simply do not know how to!

so update tuesday of either a list of things to do or a mapped car and power run!
