cup look

was at reno today, they had a 53 plate silver cup for 10995.

Showed a bit of interest to get a look inside - sorry but yawn yawn yawn, theres no way i could settle for the spartan interior ( seats look dogsh*t) for the sake of a few milliseconds on the sprint.

Not trying to dis all you cup owners- i mean each to their own.

Did look nice in silver though, the cup 172 badges are a nice touch too.

Engine cover missing too - is that a normal weight saving thing?

You just dont get it do you mat the cat.

Its about more than the milliseconds - its the whole driving experience - its totally totally different. f**k leather seats!!!!!!!!!

The Cup is awesome and leaves you feeling exhilarated whereas the 172 leaves you wanting a Cup.

You obviously dont drive like I do and are more suited to the 172. ;)

CUP8OY - Mate like he said each to his own

I had a Cup and have now got a mk1 172 and believe me it is MUCH more exhilarating to drive than the cup was

.....and climate and 6cd and xenons etc. Fu*k them to eh?

listen mate, as stated in the post, i say each to their own, meaning each to their own preference, like you prefer the driving hard feeling and i prefer a combination.

With regards to the dont get it comment, well dunno how old you are, but i 30 and have had lots of fast cars from an rs 500 cossie to courtney turbod astra gsi. I also own a show winning 69 beetle, so i do get it mate. I was merely stating my opinion on the interior - nothing else so chill my man.

another thing, cups are pap.

Having driven both, if I had to chop the P1 in tomorrow, Id be on the hunt for one of these pre-registered Cups. With the money Id save Id kit it out with some Recaro/Cobra seats(£800) and swap over my Alpine MP3 HU!! You would then have, IMHO, the best new hot hatch money can buy at this time!!

I was commenting on your " no way I could have that spartan interior for the sake of a few milliseconds" line. I know its up to each individual as to what they go for.

IMO when you go for a Cup you are giving up the toys for a hell of a lot more driver appeal. Not just a tiny increase in power.

I am chilled.

And yes xenons and cds and stuff dont appeal to me that much, I turn the stereo off and just drive.

true mate. however they seemed a little less firm to me - probably as the leather gives less than cloth when a load is applied

Matt at 30 you should have enough savvy to not start a thread to insight an argument, at least when I do it I put a..... :p

The Cup interior is what makes the car what it is, a homoglation classic that will be collectable in a few years due to the number that were made. The Cup is a fantastic little motor, believe me, when you are driving the Cup you are not interested in what the car has in terms of Toys, the ony toys you need in a Cup is the Accelerater, Brake and Clutch, they will provide you with enough fun wherever and whenever you drive it...

I love my Cup, so much so that Im modelling my 182 on it, Im having the Artic Blue, Cup suspension, Cup Spoiler and Turini Alloys. I think it will look the dogs bollox.

Why am I getting a 182 then if the Cup is so special: My missus wants CC in the car for long journeys in the summer. I like the leather interior, stereo, xenons, noise reduction. That does not mean to say that the 182 is any better or any worse than the Cup/172/, infact for a few changes they are all exactly the same car.

:bighugs: and lets stop the comments, they are unnecessary

xtrem, xtreme xtreme, please read the initial post, it says that there is no attempt to dis any cup owners. I am allowed to state my opinion and do so without the concern of upsetting any touchy types. Imerely commented on my view. This is a discussion forum after all, I people cannot state thier opinion well what will there be to discuss?

the cups are pap - well i couldnt resist with the harsh respone i got.

Is it that time of the month again for the old cup vs 172/ I aint recovered from the last one yet!

It must be that time of the month as there is a scooby vs cup thread in drivig tales that is just screaming out to be locked!

So whats the problem here...Matt gave his opinion...

And ??????

Oh i get it now,YET AGAIN somebody gets the hump because somebody dared to give their opinion in their own words....

In his original post he said he couldnt live with the spartan interior and his opinion is its not worth it for a few miliseconds...he went on to say how nice it looks as well...all his opinion and nothing wrong with what he said,he even said each to his own...

Get a grip people and stop being so touchy...

Cup ? 172 ? different cars for different people. I think we can all agree the Cup interior is not its most redeeming feature, but for some thats not why they bought it.. some wanted a cheaper car, some wanted the extra milliseconds, the colour and the wheels..

He gave his opinion and he is entitled to it.. people are entitled to give theres in return. I dont care if you drive a cup or a 172.. just stop bitchin..;)
