I bet he did not replace the cam sealsUpdate on the car;
he was out in it when I arrived at the garage, so I went back 10 minutes later.
He says he fixed the problem by doing something with the dephaser, possibly moving it I think he said and it's now running perfect, it's fast as f**k and he was giving it some welly in his words apparently no noise from the dephaser or anything, which proves that wasn't the problem. However there's now another Spanner in the works as when I walked in the car was going up on the ramps again and it's now got an oil leak, he reckons it'll definitely be done and fully sorted tomorrow.
No I don't, knowing my luck he'll have been caught doing 70 in a 30 zone, probably say I was driving anarl.Do you have a dash cam fitted?
Bad day at the office?
My thoughts tooI bet he did not replace the cam seals
I suspect he has reused the cam seals after retiming it. they are impoissible to remove without damaging unless you damage or remove rocker cover.
a couple of new ones wil solve that, hence the extra day.
If you mean came end caps, then yes they should be. (there are other cam seals that are only exposed when the rocker cover is removed). Are the cam seals done as part of the timing kit ?
I never asked for them to be done, dan@sjm done mine so assume he would of done them
how many hours labour roughly does a specialist take to do a full cambelt and aux kit and dephaser plus water pump?? iv seen the full kit inc dephaser for £278 . say the garage charges £45ph. what will i be looking at?
they will fit parts you supply if genuine new renault.
Dan done belt dephaser waterpump and clutch then shipped engine to me, my garage wouldn't do belt, a lot off my mind knowing he done it.They have to be done on a cambelt change if you do it correctly. Dan would've done them.

whats the chances of brand new belts failing though. thats being over paranoid.
I don't think the timing belt ever fails its more the tensioner or bolts and the aux belt is the same it just gets shredded when tensior fails, think how reliable the fr engines would be if people only paid specialist were used and within the correct time frameswhats the chances of brand new belts failing though. thats being over paranoid.
I heard good things about swr and that's a decent price
ClioTurbo do it for £275Would it be a bit cheaper on a 172 cup?
My previous megane had the cambelt fail and leave the aux untouched.I don't think the timing belt ever fails its more the tensioner or bolts and the aux belt is the same it just gets shredded when tensior fails, think how reliable the fr engines would be if people only paid specialist were used and within the correct time frames

That's a long time 4 months what are you having done apart from the engine£500 with dephaser and water pump.
Plus if he takes it there it will take my car longer to get fixed, I havnt seen it since September
Mine popped out which were supposedly new on my boosted 182 causing a loss of oil and engine damage.
