Re: Ph1 172

And i bet it sounds epic.... :D

Driving normally it's quieter than the induction kit I had believe it or not! On full chat it roars like a goodun!

Tempted to decat it once the mot is done for a bit more exhaust noise as the exhaust isn't very loud. Although the wife might have something to say about that, she hated the last car I decated

Took it for a long drive this weekend, loving the itbs! Needs a new throttle cable though.

Gave it a wash and then moved the wife's garden lights around a bit for a nighttime shot.

This evening I fitted some Magnat xcentric components up front and FLI coaxs in the rear. Tunes + itbs makes for an epic combination.

I've found the front sits a bit higher than it used to when I first fitted the Cooksports, I've taken around 50kg out of the car from over the front wheels alone.

New throttle cable fitted, all is well again ready for the weekend.

Tax paid for and mot booked for next week, shouldn't be any reason for failure.

Cheers guys, well my wife had got me a voucher for Javelin so I used it to book Anglesey on the 16th.

It'll be nice to get out on track again, just over a week to go! :race:

Chi It's not turbo quick bit the noise is good :)

Did some free weight saving today taking the tar pads off the floor, I didn't do any others on the roof, bulkhead etc.they'll get done another day.

I've added up 15kg I've saved in total (5 from the tar pads) since the last trackday so it should be 965kg with a full tank of fuel now.

Had a nightmare with the battery. Anyway that's sorted now and the new gel one is fitted under the seat. Managed to get to Buckley Tyres and now the camber is -3.5°, caster is 3.25° and toe in of 20'.

Ready to go for Anglesey now!

I go as far as parellel for stuff like ring trips where I want it predictable, but toe in does seem a bit of a step too far.

Have you tried it parellel tom? or with a tiny bit of toe out?

No I haven't, I've always had slight toe in. When I get the roll centre kit fitted and have a tad less camber with better tyres I'll try it parallel.

Received my roll centre correction kit today and my AST Sportline 1s should be ready next week. Can't wait to get it on the road again and see how it handles with the upgrades. When it all settles I'll get it corner weighted ready to track again.

Sorted some more photos of Anglesey last month, these are just of my car on the day.

Quick video, love the soundtrack :D

Yeah its getting there :)

Contemplating getting into some competition next year. Might join in on the sprinting that some of the NW lot do.

I have Piper Cams fitted, timed up with standard Renault tools. Pretty much an equivalent for Catcams 438 but cheaper.

I am considering a forged build sometime with catcams 423 although I'm waiting to see how BIGASH gets on with his before I decide on anything.

  A special one.
Well if it was me and i was using it on track then id be getting the AVO's tbh.

Although I use it on track, I'd say I do 10% track driving and 90% road. At the moment my car is 100kg lighter than standard, when I'm done with weight loss it'll be around 940-950kg with me in it and a full tank of fuel.

400lb springs are enough on the front for me, especially with the weight loss. The Bilstein have good damping control to match the spring rate hence they don't feel stiff but the springs are what really control the roll.

The rear springs are only 225lb or thereabouts which is very soft but nice on the road given that the car is light at the back and won't make the back end step out. So I'd be upping those to around 450lb for track or I could keep the softer ones for wet days.

However there is a chance (although I suspect an infinitesimally small chance) that the ASTs could turn up tomorrow. We shall see!

BIGASH If I wait I'll be without the car for another couple of weeks at least. My hope is they're on the way and arrive today but he's in China now so no way of finding out. They've had various delays so far, the car is up on stands, I haven't been able to use it and I missed a track day on Monday. I'm just running out of patience and want to use the car.

I've gone for 400 front 285 rear but that's about 485 in the original position, I believe Joe is running the same. So I'd go for similar with the Bilstein, the differences being the Bilstein are inverted monotube and the Sportline 1 are not. The Sportline 1 are damping adjustable with an outboard rear and the Bilstein are not.

Borrowed a set of cooksport springs and cup shocks to get it rolling again. Took it around the block and have a few not so good noises...

I'll be needing some longer driveshafts. The roll centre kit combined with the cup subframe is too much for the ph1 shafts. Shame really as they were brand new last summer. I'll keep the cvs and get some cup shafts then it should be sorted.

I'm going to fit some cup tie rods as well to make sure I've got enough threads on the rod ends. Again this is annoying as they were new last summer.

Should have just bought a cup to begin with.....
