Blyton 09/06.
An epic evening on Saturday night camping over in prep for Sundays track day. 3 of us camped over, 1 in a camper (definitely the best choice) and two of us tenting.
Got to the circuit around 5pm and caught the last few keen beans going around track.
My mate (who owns my previous 172) on entry
Got tracked down by the hitler of a marshal ranting on about a 15mph speed limit down the driveway randomly for no reason. He really is a tool. Ignored him and carried on with our evening events.
Got the tents set up, cars unloaded from trailers and cooked up a feast with a few beers watching the BTCC.
Time for bed… I soon realised tenting is an experience…..
Winds were up, temperature dropped and I got about 4 hours sleep, tossing and turning on an air bed that can only be described as an ironing board. Getting dropped on with condensation whoever enjoys this type of thing is clearly troubled.
I caved in at 4am and got up, put the tent away and prepped my car, to my mates amusement.
I woke them up at 5am with the sound of my torque wrench checking wheel nuts.
About 6am everybody was up and we got breakfast on the go and arrival of another mate in his ST. The group were all there and we were good to go, signed on and warmed up the cars ready for sighting laps at 9.
The morning session was going well. I was running on some old NS2R which I have had for ages as I want to keep my AR1 for Anglesey CSF but these were proving very sketchy and I couldn’t keep the power down around bends as it was just washing out and the unpredictability was getting a bit scary.
I decided to swap over to my AR1 but luckily noticed a heavy brake fluid leak from the rear beam area so unfortunately had to call it a day there.
Still got to enjoy the day as a passenger so all was not lost.
Packed away about 4pm and headed home for the 3 hour journey.
Putting the clio away I forgot I had no brakes when getting off the trailer, luckily nothing was behind 😂
All in all a great weekend and memories made which is what it’s all about.
A good shakedown ready for Anglesey next month with just the brake lines to sort and the car going well, I’m happy.
