My 182ff track car build (so far)

Just track wheels doesnt mean they have to look tatty. Theres only 2 reasons that wheels should get damaged.
1 if you are wheel to wheel racing in a competitive race.
2 if you f**k up on track and vin it into the gravel.

So I will do these gloss black aswell and fit the red decal again.
They will be used as wets/road tyres.
 
Nice! Yea that's what I've done with the other set with slicks. Weve got number 97 of the new GP's on site. I'll get a picture of it tomorrow.

I did think about getting a mini seen as though I can get parts at cost +5% at work but I've over taken too many on track to make the jump. If I come across a well setup on I may change my mind though.

Don’t bother, my GP was a huge disappointment. Absolute shitbox, hated it as I sold my Clio to buy it. Then modified the hell out of it to try and make it what I thought it should be.
Gave up after 18 months and bought my Cayman R. 2 years later I bought back my original inferno 182 which is what I still own now.
Those black 2118s look superb. 🙂
 
You driven yours much on the road with the 15s? The 205/45/16 ad08rs I have up front are a smaller dimeter than the p zeros and 5th go is too short now for the road, Im cruising around in 5th everywhere. The ad048 I had for a bit were 195/50/16 and made the gearing painfully long though lol.

I was settled on some td1.2s, but now thinking 16s again!!

The 225 you were pushing at Croft is my mates, i believe he had 270hp at that point and he does not hang about.

I bet the lad in the golf had brown marks in his pants after sideways at Hawthorne, not much run off there :LOL:
 
Yea he did well to keep it out of the tyre wall there. Quick thinking with foot down to pull it straight again.

270bhp!! Jesus power to weight must kill the extra power its producing. Needs to get it on a diet!
 
Bit off topic today.

My F25 BMW X3 was due its MOT on the 25th and it failed on a broken rear spring!

I bought it as it came in at work cheap at 15k. 45,000 miles 3.0ltr diesel Xdrive auto with factory electric folding tow bar 😁 especially for towing the clio.
( just need a licence now!)

So because my work is currently closed I couldnt get new springs there, I had to go none genuine 🤫
Pages wouldnt serve me because I wasnt a key worker FFS so I had to get the MOT tester to order them for me.

Sachs extra load springs especially for the factory fit tow bar.

So I got a couple free hours from little Hitler today and thought I would get them swapped over whilst the sun was out.

Got the back end jacked up and onto stand and the rear wheels off.

You need to remove the interior boot trims to get to the top mounts. Luckily I've been in the back of hundreds of these F25's for an Isofix recall so knew exactly how it all comes out.

I then placed the Jack under the rear lower arm to take a little bit of pressure off and removed the bottom bolt of the strut and the lower arm to hub bolt.
3x 13mm top mount bolts and it all slides out easily.

Pretty easy job, I though it was going to be a pig of a job but turned out to be straight forward.

Got it retested this afternoon and all's good again
 
With a baby in bed and a wife asleep on the sofa I just done start to finish and left Michael with a million like notifications.

After seeing Michael comment a fair few times in @Chambers_RS thread I thought I needed to see what he was all about. Great attention to detail in the build. Good to see your brake lines fitted/worked too. The speed of all the work is impressive too, god it makes me feel like I am a proper slouch with my build.

With regards to your bolt coatings you didn't go with ACF50 in the end then @1985michael182 ?

Phone never beeped so much !

I haven't actually gotten round to the ACF50 yet I had a look round it the other day when I started it up and everything is as it was when I put it together, I will get it though.
I have a few jobs to do round the house whilst in furlough then I'll be stripping the rear beam.
If thing work out right I maybe turbo'd aswell.

I have a stockpile of ACF50 here waiting for my bolt check and application.
Not sticking with the ITB's then?
 
Hope everyone is staying safe through all this s**t and sticking with the rules.

Today I had a nice little package arrive from PMS.

I expected the steel to be thicker really but I suppose once its welded into position it wont be going anywhere.

Next job is removing the rear axle, problem is I've got the little one all the time as the Mrs is still working from home.

I've also ordered new Bimmec 68mm studs.

I will strip the axle and remove the brackets no longer needed ,
send the calipers to Bigred for a rebuild and refurbish, bolts and rear hubs away for plating.
Need camber shims and new hub mounting bolts.
Polybush cups and PMS kit to weld in and powder coating.

I will remove the tank and side skirts and paint the underside.

Then rebuild it all nice and new.

Braided fuel lines and an uprated fuel pump might be next too.
 
To be honest I forgot to say rear strut refurb with 450lbs springs aswell. If it requires the rear to be stiffer I would rather up the spring rate than add the rear arb.
2 reasons.
One is extra weight that's not really required.
The other is it's always a fine line for a good balance between understeer/oversteer.

You also dont get any warning with the rear breaking away with a hard rear end, it's either grip or no grip and then it snaps back the other way harshly and you end up in the gravel.

I dont particularly like the look of them either, looks like an afterthought.
 
630lb rear springs and 510 front on mine, balance was perfect.. Needs new tyres and to get the extra track back on the rear though.
