After a month of looking finally got myself a 1999 1.6 16v clio.

Lovely motor, only done 39k and certainly drives nice

Got MOT + TAX, 6 cd changer, cat 1 alarm and immob, two new tyres, air con, abs, mint alloys (not one scuff), leccy windows, mirrors + sunroof. White dials!!!!!!

Very happy and only paid £4000 for it

Must say im impressed with the performance, especially in the higher gears.

yeah certainly the sort of performance id hoped for. Its nice being able to stick ur foot down on the motorway and see it just keep pulling to well passed !00.

Had the same engine in my old Megane too - is pretty swift for a 1.6

one of my mates was looking at buying one. had a test drive and he said it felt slow! wierd thing is he went and bought a vtr

i havent driven a VTR, but this thing certainly goes some. 0-60 isnt amazing but 3rd, 4th and 5th just keep going. Love it still getting used to driving it at the mo, so il try and do some 0-60 runs or get to a 1/4 mile strip over the summer.

Theyre so nice to drive, especially with the adjustable seats and steering column, got it all nice and low like driving a go kart he he.

Handling seems pretty sweet. Just got a fking rattle in the roof that is doing my head in.

Anyone know how to get under the roof lining?

Ive had a blat with one. A lot harder to kill than most of the VTRs Ive slaughtered. But then most of the VTRs round my way have 19" wheels and 10 tonne of ice.....

*edit- with regards to fixing the rattle, dont bother..... Ive tried to sort the rattles on my 172 ....... its a bit like painting the forth bridge. Never ending. For every rattle you sort, another three will appear elswhere....

My missus has got a 1.6 (2001 model but same engine I guess?!) and that goes very well.

Until my 182 arrives, I currently drive a Focus 2.0 ESP (130bhp I think) and even though the official figures wouldnt agree, I reckon the 1.6 is quicker than that (pretty much anywhere in the range too)
