Alot of TIG welding to be done hopefully next week:D

Only thing is Custom Cages have not sent my diagonal braces for under the bonnet so there are 3 bars missing from that pic. Will get onto them first thing Monday.

Also should have a pair of Sabelt 3" 6 point harnesses arrive early next week, 2 pairs of aluminium side mounts for my seats, a new 182 exhaust manifold and 1.5m of 2.5" stainless pipe ready to repair and modify my Cup racer exhaust:)

Dan it is a completely bare rolling shell! I have even taken the engine out so it is easier to do around the turrets. Cheese wire took care of the windows and windscreen.

Thanks Clio stu. I shall try and keep the updates frequent and with plent of pictures :)

then it will be a bit easier. Cutting holes in the floor to drop the main hoop feet through so you can weld all round the joins onto it that are hidden by the roof rails might be the best way to go about it. Same for the front feet actually

  ph1 172
Possibly. They have supplied the various and necessary foot plates so will see how they work out first as once complete, it will be scrutineered by custom cages to then become fia certified. They will be picky so need to do it to please them almost. We shall see :)

Harnesses arrived:D

Gave them a wash so dismantled them and haven't finished putting them back together but you get the idea...

Car will be going in this week to have the cage done. Will be away for a couple of weeks I should expect as I have told him to do it as and when. This means I can keep dropping by for some progress pictures:D

Also something for the future of my car, next year for sure I will have him make me a custom size rad. He has just done this one for a Lotus Elan

Right:)

Seat mounts and manifold arrived yesterday. Very chuffed with both but especially with the manifold. Brand new genuine Renault with the sticker still in tack:approve:
For a typically low to average price that you would usually pay for a second hand one;)

Also picked up another engine from DannyR that I will be rebuilding so will have yet more work to do!

Stripped the rest of the loom out of the engine bay today, put the front suspension back on, took the wings and skirts off along with a little bit more weight saving, exactly 1kg in total:D

If I have another early finish from work tomorrow I will whip the exhaust off, rear bumper and the boot lid. Then I have the excess metal work to remove from the interior and engine bay to wash down. Once done, either next Tuesday or Wednesday it it will go off to have the cage done, cannot wait!

Here is how it stands currently.....albeit, looking rather sorry for itself compared to when I bought it just over 3 weeks ago.

The pace of this build is MEGA impressive. Seems to be a decent update practically daily!

Top job mate.

Thanks mate:)

I am infact a little behind "my" schedule, but not too worried as tbh there's no rush.

Next couple of weeks will see some dramatic and interesting updates rather than taking bits off constantly!

I have been looking into getting it ceramic coated and it seems that depending on where you go will reflect the price, quality and longevity massively so any recommendations would be much appreciated.

No worries Dan, tbf yours looks good so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it":)

BTW you'd fit my Sabelt now... Rhys/ His dad sussed out that i'd fitted it wrong, side mount was forcing the plastic harness slot inwards, bit of adjustment and even i fit now ;)

Ive heard about this, thing with Rhys seats are i can still look left and right and not see a massive amount of seat so i could get away with it as i still use my car most days for normal driving lol.

Oh tell me more??? Will you be doing this yourself?

Going for the "cup racer" grey which will be the same as my interior. Basically an Audi paint code. I will be spraying it

News travels fast :p That's fair enough :)

Good stuff, makes sense to do the whole car while it's at this stage :)
