  BMW M5 & E36
Can't remember where mine came from. Ebay/factors/halfrauds though I'd imagine. Proper exhaust stuff, not just household sealant lol.

I really like this car, even if I'm too fat for the seats lol as we found out last night!

Had to pull over quite alot last night whilst on the way to the meet, driving to and from places at the meet... problems were the relay for the fuel pump again, jubilee clips slipping off the carbs, screw fell out again off the retaining spring for the throttle linkage and the glass for the spot lamp nearly fell out...

so iv been and bought a new relay for the fuel pump as mine was being dodgy hopefully thats sorted that problem out now

siliconed the spot lamp glass back on

took the carbs off fitted another screw for the retaining spring usng some locktite, then lined all the silicone hoses back up and made sure they're all as tight as i can get them

just a couple of pics form the meet yesturday -

Took the exhaust manifold, starter motor and sump off this morning whilst my mate was on his way...

when he got here he checked all the oil ways and oil pump with his snap-on super duper camera and all looked very well he said so really dont know whats causing the high oil pressure... andy said it could be due to its a 115ps spec 1800, as 130ps spec ones have oil spray jets that open at 1.9bar which would lower the pressure and keep the engine cooler, so maybe the pressure if fine for this type of Zetec E...

so just put the sump, starter and manifold back on, re-sealed the exhaust and screwed a self tapper into one of the secondries to hold it so should have no more slideing off issues now.

New oil and filter change too obviously...

so now just gonna basically keep running it till the rings get worse as it seems 99% sure that its just the rings as it only smokes like above 4k on full throttle... just have to keep on top of the oil see how long they last.

also sanded the II16v Zetec and ford logos off the rocker cover so they stand out.

also renewed the Earth for the pressure sender as it was blipping up and down with it just taped to the sender body lol

cameras fcuked so cant get any pics, just hope i have it sorted for ford fair as i wanna be taking plenty lol

I could rob some off my uncles mk1 escort but the jets are wrong :( I dont have the money to mess about with carbs and rolling roads

Well made it to Ford Fair and back (320miles?) burning 2.5litres of oil and using 55quid worth of fuel im happy lol... didnt have to even tighten any of the jubilee clips once over the weekend lol (altho i will have to in abit as one slipped down like round the corner form mine whcich made for some awesome popping lol)

The 0-60 went err... not bad i suppose, managed 7.68 with missing 2nd and 3rd so should well be in the 6s really if it wasnt for the sh!t box (cant wait to swap it with andys FRST one, once i source a new enigne)... a mk1 fiesta with a 170bhp 1800 managed 5.36 with 888s so shows what these cars can do with zetecs in them

few pics form on the way down and on thre 0-60 strip -

Found a 2.0l Zetec E yesturday, 70k came out of an Automatic too, and already fitted with a 1800 sump and pick up pipe which is 2 out of the 3 things needed to go for a 2.0 over a 1800 :D

So set off at 6.30 this morning and just got back from a 564 mile round trip to collect it, turned it over with a spanner and feels perfect

Lol another engine!

So if the 1800 produced 157bhp what should the 2ltr produce. Roughly?

the 1800 made 158bhp and around 125lbs ft with the Piper 285s... im sticking with the standard cams in the 2ltr for now, should be around the same 160ish and around 135lbs ft

I'm still yet to see this at a meet. Granted I've attended one in the last year-18 months, but hey ho!

ffs jamie how many times this year have you taken an engine out of a fiesta?? lol

3 times haha, hopefully wont have to again now tho

and cheers

Andy came round around 10ish this morning, so started out by dragging the 1800 out from under the car then , Swapped the waterpump over, all the tensioners and Cam belt, re-timed the cams up too, Lightened flywheel and helix clutch on, then fitted my new box, no lsd but iyt goes into all the gears so win for me, andy put FRST gears into a Fiesta mk3.5 Si box as they're a stronger box than a FRST one (bearings/casing etc) so where here at this stage few pics form along the way -

Nearly there -

then fitted everything back together, whilst it started pissing down -

Bye bye 1800 and a Knackard S1 RST box -

Great project funny thing is i have just got a F reg XR2 as well, It was my car about 6 ish years ago untill my little boy was born.
I ended up selling it to a good mate of mine who drove it for about 2 years untill it broken into, after that it just sat. About 3 weeks ago he asked me to look over it to see what it needed to get it back on the road, as it needed welding work he decided not to have the work done so now its mine.

Its only done 45,000 but i have the same plans for it as yours so would it be ok to PM you to find out some dos and donts with getting the engine and bits to convert?

Cheers great car

Awesome! I realised I stopped reading this months ago and just read the 10 or so pages I've missed. Bad luck with the original engine, but it sounds like this one goes well enough to make up for it!

Well although its only done 45k sitting outside has done it no favours, so 1st i need to do the inner and outter sills on the drivers side and 2 new front wings as they have rusted at the bottoms. Once the shell is "rust free" i can then move onto the other bits.
The trim is already out and i might just have to use the CVH engine for now but maybe with a few small mods like the exhaust etc...for now untill i have some more cash.

Zetec power is where i want it to end up so if i can start buying some bits as they come up then that will be good.

I will have to join the XR2 forum as i need some bits for the car like a pass side drop glass and the lower front part of the body kit.

Cheers scott.

All been going/running well so far until last night, went onto a motorway enthusiastically then follwed a huuuuuge cloud of steam, i thought great.. the head gaskets gone, thank god it hasnt, one of the coolant hoses has slpit that goes to the heater matrix so just a 10min fix, so relieved its not the head gasket.. going to sort that tmoz, going to get a new thermostat too to make sure

Just booked the XR2s first trackday at Oulton Park for next wednesday :D

Just bought a new 10" cooling fan too as the kenlowe only pushes and dont think it can be reversed, should be here wednesday.
