Andy I'll echo the above and say how gutted I am for you. I had hoped Russ would have fixed most the issues, obviously didn't appreciate how deep they ran. I respect your attitude and commitment to the build.
Hopefully we will see you at combe next month?
I don't think there is a single person on the forum that doesn't want to see you driving his in anger again
Thanks for replying and continuing to follow the thread mate
Sadly the problems did run deeper hence the reason for the Trophy spending a lot of the time off the road recently and not being able to enjoy it and put some miles on her.
As for next month, I'm assuming you mean the Action Day at Combe? If so then yes - I will be there. My club has a stand again and - alas - the pink shed will be a no-show once more! I guess I could always trailer the shell over... hahaha!
I've been overwhelmed by the PM's and messages I've received recently. There are some real genuine and kind folks here and it's been both a pleasant surprise and motivational in terms of getting the Trophy back on the road in one form or another. People I don't know beyond their usernames willing to offer so much to help me out; from engine loans/swaps to letting me borrow their cars, to help sourcing parts, and so on. I can't tell you how grateful I am to those people (and indeed folks like yourself who have been daft enough to follow my thread!) Thanks! LOL! The Trophy will see the light of day again and, despite another period of downtime whilst plans are made and worked through, I'm determined to enjoy this blasted car!
Absolutely gutted to read this, although i'm very much in the "your just throwing money away" camp now. Put a standard engine in it & enjoy it. Its never going to be particularly quick anyway (even with 210bhp) so just enjoy it for what it is. Maybe its just luck, but i've had 3 Trophies (& endless 1*2's), kept the engine standard on each, & barring routine maintenance, thrashed the ar5e off each of them with no issues.
Id suggest you do the same, you could have probably bought a CSL with all the money you've ploughed into this :weary:
I hear you mate. With all the money I've thrown at this car since I bought it I'd be well on my way to BMW 1M ownership by now (a car I secretly desire). Hindsight is a wonderful thing but, sadly, I went past that line of no return a while back and it's a plan that didn't work out. As hinted at already there are many options on the table and I'm going to consider them carefully. I think I've pretty much made up my mind after a chat with friends and, importantly, my bos- good lady. She just wants to see me in a car and happy again at the end of the day. As sad as it is, the car/driving is my only real hobby. I'm not big on lavish holidays, don't drink, don't smoke, am generally boring. Hence the lack of car to have some fun in has been frustrating. Sure, I love the Type-R and will continue to get my NA kicks from that but it still can't deliver on the smiles that the Clio can bring. When it's working!
It'll be quick when mike and I have finished with it
Because, boost?? [emoji41]
Obligatory (misleading?) image now coming up...
Many options are being discussed Scott.
it will be good once done, and as s**t as things have been, it WILL be worth it in the end.
I'm looking forward to this build
Russ, you've been my rock dude! x LOL! Replacing the boot struts was the icing on the cake my friend!
Two bar terry Dan LOL
" If it doesnt blow it sucks"
Chin up Andy lad
Cheers Andy. I'm pretty much over it now; only the odd breakdown and trickle of tears! A few days away courtesy of my amazing better half has put me in a good mood and the fact she has agreed with my choices / ideas so far (in terms of getting the T back on the road) has also helped my mood. LOL!
@Dan@SJM earlier, aka 2bar terry tibbs!
