The VW Audi Skoda Seat Thread

Thought I'd check out my warranty renewal on the RS3 as the date is approaching, and looks like they've changed the pricing a little to ramp up as the mileage goes up.

Used to be less than £500 for their fully inclusive cover, now that's £900 for me since ticking over 80k :( Will still probably go with the named component cover so that I've got the big bits covered, which tbh is the main reason I want it (engine, transmission, haldex etc).

Still it stings a bit that it's almost £500 for that, but I've had more than my monies worth out of the warranty over the years so I guess I've won overall.

Can only cover the car up to 100k miles so might only have this year and next left that I can do it.

Who is that with?

I've had the All In pack on my Golf since I got it but it runs out at the end of this year and as it's now over 6 years old I can't buy it again.

Been incredible value, the servicing alone is worth it, plus I've had a couple of warranty claims, the biggest being a new AC condenser, regas and the diag work which was a >£1k bill at VW 😲

I was hoping my water pump would fail during the warranty too so I can get that sorted on it, but it's holding up fine.

That's the Audi extended warranty, so Audi/Audi Fin Services.

I went with the all in on the wifes T-Roc as the cost of the plan easily covered what we would've spent on services alone, sadly the Audi equivilent isn't available for the RS3 :(

Ah right, and you can do the audi one on older cars then? Or is yours under 6?

I wonder if VW would let me extend if audi do.

Don’t remember seeing an age limit just 100k mileage, but the car is a 2016 plate so older than 6!

Found it on the VW website, VW want £1100 a year to cover my 2019 GTI on the full cover package, only done 45k miles too.

Mad, I'll not be bothering with that then 🤣

That’s nuts, my rs3 was quoted £880 I think for the top cover with £250 excess.

If it was under 50i miles it’d have been £370!

Always cheaper if the warranty has always been continued with no break from end of the original 3 year one if you have a break of cover even week or 2 the push the price right up.

Well it's got warranty with VW until after summer sometime so that must be the cheaper price 🤣

Black Friday always offers decent deals on warranty plans through main dealer if the car is under 6 years old that is.
Yep, that's what I'm on atm, renewed at 5.5 years old on black friday 2024. I'd renew again if I could as it's a really good deal.

I don't need a warranty, it's just a golf at the end of the day, but it was nice having that peace of mind, never had it before on a car.

Just bought this thing to smoke about in.

Will de-Bradford it and touch up the rear arch, get the wheel’s refurbished silver.

It’s an A4 SE 3.0 TDI Quattro manual, so pretty rare. It benefits from being breathed on and MRC tuned so putting out 330hp or there abouts.

Has had a load of goodies including an S4 organic clutch conversion.

Not a bad buy for £1100

But the bullet as today was the last day to renew.

Was only going to go with the lowest level of named component cover, £480 (🤮), but when I read the details it really didn’t cover much so bumped up to the ‘standard’ cover so things like Haldex are covered.

A few pennies shy of £800 for that, plus went max excess at £250. So s**t compared to what it used to be, but noticed they’ve revamped and increased the prices on stuff like the warranties, service pans etc lately.

Probably only have one more year of warranty after this as it may tick over 100k, I’ll be on my my own then 😂

When I had my S4 - I extended (the warranty) with Audi twice (bought it at 3 years old from Audi). The RS4 I’ve not bothered with, as the cost was prohibitive and the exclusions were vast. If you keep up with all the scheduled maintenance, (more talking to myself) you’ll be unlucky for something major to go pop.

Yup it’s more for peace of mind.

Last thing I had that would’ve been an expensive one was front transfer box replaced.

Seems whilst they are ‘sealed for life’ they can run dry and break.

Will get the fluids changed on the new one every so often.

Updated the maps in mine this morning, it was still on the original 2018 maps on the car, I generally use CarPlay but it's nice to have the fall-back of the built in maps, but the main benefit is the speed camera warnings come from the cars maps so wanted the latest database of those. They come with 3 years of maps updates, but didn't think there was much point in updating to 5 year old 2021 maps, so had to get a bit dodgy and get lifetime maps activation in. A bit scary but got it done with a couple of SD cards, now on the 2026/2027 database, noticed it even has the new bypass road near me that's not finished yet.

I tend to use Google Maps in the car, it does have some speed cameras listed, but not very consistently, the car pops up its own message and tone when you're within a certain distance of one it knows about. Would rather have the car just tell me than need to look at the screen, probably brought upon myself by not just using Waze though.

Is it actively updated, so will pick up mobile cameras etc?

Alternatively, if you open Waze on android auto before using google maps, Waze will still send through speed camera warnings while you’re using google maps.

Front pads and discs changed on the RS3 today, the wear sensor warning was permenently on and the discs had been in 6 years so thought was time.

Went with the Brembo prime discs (£400 the pair) and Ferodo DS performance pads with shins (£360, could’ve got something OE cheaper but heard good things about these).

Guy fitting them charged £140, cheaper than me buying all the kit to do it myself so was happy with all that.

When I picked it up he showed me why the were sensor was being triggered, whilst there was meat on the pads still the lip on the disc had actually started cutting through the cable/sensor 😂

So as above, got 6 years worth of use out of the last set of discs and pads so don’t think that’s too bad at all, and got them done half the price Audi would’ve charged.

Hastily taken picture of a dirty wheel and caliper that are in desperate need of a refurb

News to me thanks, will try that, it's just static cameras built into the car, not sure if it has mobile cameras if you pay for Audi Connect.
