Track phase 182

Appreciate the info buddy, I currently have aircon removed and just enough of pump left (basterdized) to run the belt. I'm thinking a cup alternator setup with aircon pump and pas system removed. Should be a nice little winter project leaving less weight on the nose...
No problem at all, I'm always asking people questions so I'm happy to give as much back as possible. Yep thats what I'm running!

Went out with the go pro today, not much done at all, feels like a storms coming, but harness eye bolts installed.

Photos to follow. gonna go on laptop rather than phone.

Although must get like 20 style points and maybe bhp from this mod...

Turns out I had some tyre pens left over, not that I went on ebay and bought some specifically for this...

Soooo updates over the weekend, worked a gay wedding on Saturday (i am an events Co - ordinator btw)

Although a pretty long shift 8 am - 2am, there were little things that made me laugh haha

Right back to cars, yesterday was just spent picking up parts: 182 mani and rear tailgate. Which meant a trip up to London to see my girfriend... what a coincidence that the parts were only 20 mins away...

e46 m3 I spotted, sounded good spoiler has ruined the car though.

But this meant today could be spent getting the engine back in which it was

Engine cranked fine just didn't turn over.
First thing I checked was the rail, fuel was present, then i followed to removed the Inlet pipe and put into a clear bottle the fuel flowed on ignition but not when cranked.

That's where the diagnosis ends and a new crank sensor will be ordered tomorrow.

So yeah also put the tailgate on wo,

Also big news!!!!!! my engine mounts have been sent, and I think have been delivered to my work, I think...

cheers!

LOL - so the diagnostics shouldn't of stopped at the crank sensor.

I got a lot of fuel in my eye that day so I failed to notice the imboliser was flashing away while cranking... ooopsie

Well I'm a happy chappy tonight...
The heart is beating again, the cars heart that is!

The progress is nearing to an end which is kinda sad, but im just waiting on funds to sort out the rear beam, Strengthening and spherical bearings.

In addition I'm waiting for my brakes to sell before putting in an order for some gaz golds!
what's a good spring rate to start off with front and back. Rear higher than front bias please.

Got the black cup spoiler fitted today also, had to lengthen the brake light wires due to the plug was making the spoiler not sitting properly.

woo really need to start taking better/more quality photos.

Progress looks good mate!

Spring rate wise - 450's all round and see what you think. You may need to up the fronts to 500's but it's personal preference.

You reckon a neutral bias? always would of thought higher on the rear to aid turn in and more of an oversteery set up..

Remember that your not trying to increase the roll stiffness by upping the spring rates mate. You still need some compliance in the suspension.
My advice would be reduce the rear toe/add some toe out in the mix if your wanting oversteer tbh.

I'm currently on 450 fronts and 475 rears. Fronts too soft and needs upping. The rear may get dropped to either 400's or 425's though. Still undecided atm.

I'm not wanting oversteer, just as little understeer as poss.

Hmm ok, anyway its only a starting point, so yeah that's good advice tbf.

Really really starting to see the end (well there's never an end) but to being built up.

Trial fitted the bumper today to install the aerocatches, which went on alot better than the ph1 I did, probably a bit of practise helped.
So that's on and sorted now, need a new grill as the other one was chopped for bodies but now has fallen apart so will get that sorted sometime.

Fitted air intake, ideally could of done with the bend being a bit longer so the filter Is lost in the headlight abit, as I have some headlitht blanks with inlet to fit on for track days, but hey ho.

Stuck a round grommet in the aerial hole for the time being.

Neeed to get new radiator ordered, a set of Golds have been order from GAZ, and I've decided to keep to 4 pots as I just love the look of them to much to sell. So will need a set of pads for them - either rc6 or ds1.11s. maybe ds3000s depending on budget nearer to the time.

Sorrrteeed, still waiting for f**king engine mounts though - it's getting on my tits! !!!

  Supercharged AG 200
I can't praise RC6's enough mate, never fail and have never let me down...... great progress! did you ever get the bump steer kit?

Yeahh I've been out as passenger with them installed and same again - awesome!

Not yet mate, the 2nd hand set I was go eyeing up had sold when I asked him the 2nd time, said no the 1st time due to funds haha [emoji22]

But early next year will be the one!

I wouldn't use Rc6 again, I killed them pretty quickly, DS1.11 have the same stopping power but slightly less dust, less noise and much better wearing!
ok mate interesting to know from somone who's owned both, ok well i'll look at budget as I'm buying for 4 pots now - but yeah I orginally was gonna go for ds1.11s on standard brakes so yeah well see, will probably buy some ecp finest for the time being before xmas.

Cheers

Cant disagree on the dust comments and on the wear either.... I get 3 to 4 track days out of a set. But for effectiveness cant fault them.... I have had Ferodo fail before so shall never repeat that....

Yeah, its all opinion really and experience with them when you're talking about high end pads, i think for the 4 pots they're about similar price so, ill buy them after christmas i think.

Im pretty sure it will be rc6's or ds1.11s - we will see.

Should be ordering my Golds today, and also bought a set of track wheels.

So basically reaching the end of things I can do with the 182 as I'm still awaiting engine mounts from that group buy and suspension.

So first things first, I've put a deposit down on am on set of 5100s ASTs

3dc083dcd0aa885dddb2216c4820a47d.jpg

They're gorgeous, I canne wait to collect and fit them.

The suspension is the last piece of the puzzle before I can put it back on its wheels, which I'm very excited. Them it's mot time after 5 years of not having one I think...

Today was spent wiring in the ignition switch and start push button. Which was unbelievable successful! starts and switches off as it should! wooo!

I've had a video to post but it doesn't work on tapatalk annoyingly...

Another part was spent replacing the radiator and that was gone! picked up a nearly new rad from the bay for cheap

70e84e82cff918f509119322304e77e1.jpg

and then a photo for the finished work...

ebe58f042232a58e63dad91a4a01e0de.jpg

So really not many updates at all again which is sad!

First of all the dash is all in now with the volt guage, kill switch, heated screen, ignition switch and push start button working perfectly.

1f8806358e9f51b103215e999af98cd9.jpg

Secondly, decided I wouldn't run the slam panel and made up a bracket to keep the radiator from slapping about

f63f4977e4643b272597fb60ef0b1ee8.jpg

Bought some cheap track wheels, turns out they didn't fit over my brakes so sold them and bought some nearly new TDs 1.2s in a bronze colour, these will be the daily wheels with proxies on [emoji20] but they're brand new so would be a shame to get them off and with the silver 1.2s being used for track with direzzas.

Condition is banging!

Oh annnnnd bought a new daily from Rob of here its lovelllyyyy

Gave her a clean today

e1fb28ae2048e58f3872346e222f8034.jpg

I don't think I've cleaned a car for about 5 months haha the dci never got cleaned in the duration of ownership, this will be a bit different.

So few little niggles with EML light popping up and coolant level sensor flashing, think the coolant is a sensor fault, but will get the diagnostics out later on.

Really not many updates to elaborate on due to Christmas coming up etc.

Well I picked up the ASTs, I haven't fitted them yet as I didn't have the right nuts to fit the rear dampers, hopefully gonna use the nuts from the old dci and see if they fit.

Secondly I received the linger linkage for my PMS shifter from nick. Unfortunately is .5mm to thick as it's based on the newer design of shifter while mine is the older version.

So Nick has offered to turn them down a bit, or I get someone local to do it. Either or this will probably be the last piece of the puzzle.

The direzzas need to be put on the bronze wheels, while the toyos need to be put on the silver wheels.

Bronze for track/Silver for dailly

And the last thing, sold my Powerflex dogbone to buy a cheaper but stiffer evolv engineering dogbone.

These will go nicely with a new set of vibra's which I'll pick up when I go up to Norfolk for Xmas.

Oh one last thing, ph1 or ph1 rear lights?!

Ph2 all day long.

Not a lot of progress recently due to Christmas festivities with spending a bomb in fuel driving to Nowich then to onto devon and back, but hey.

Went to try fit the ASTs but unfortunately the top nut to hold them into the PMS top mounts is to big, so will need to ring Nick for a replacement and also part of the linkage needs turning down so will get that done asap.

So stopped in my tracks abit now.

As of this morning I am currently unemployed again, if you've followed this thread abit you might know I work in events, the company I work for are very quiet now till March,, and coupled with a zero hours contract and in addition to that a massive bit of confusion regarding me missing work today ( even though I specified it off) they let me go.

The drama today was probably just an excuse for letting me off as I've been as good as gold previously haha [emoji56]

I'm not overly bothered about loosing the job tbh as it's not something I really see myself doing in the future, it's now giving me a push to actually do something I want to make a career out of rather than just doing it because it's a job.

I have been looking around at some mechanical/electrical engineering apprenticeships nearby and will get as many applications in as possible.

So yeah this kinda puts me in an awkward situation car wise/financially.

I'm very skint after Christmas and especially after just buying a new car and asts I feel that I'm gonna have to make a decision I'm gonna regret regarding cars.

I'm 100% gonna fight to keep my track car, I could easily break it and see a big return but that's the last thing I want to do, so the 330ci may be up for sale shortly. [emoji17]

Sorry for the little life story, it's nice knowing that a few people on here car about the build etc so thought I should update and there's probably quite a lot of guys on here who have been through apprenticeships in engineering that may be able to help me out in the near future.

Cheers anyway.
