Ha ha ;)

easy to remove the factory seat bars, just make sure you invest in a couple of decent spot weld drill bits before you take on the task.

Chip, not sure as yet, I shall look in to it a bit closer and see what I can do, but probably won't be able to commit until a little closer to the time.

thanks for the reply, have you started refitting yet? im keen to know if youve had to adjust the colunm to suit the low position and or how much you've moved the standard left to right seating position?

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
I've still got to remove the drivers side bars yet, and then with my lame welding skills ill be employing a good mate to take on that task for me, so they probably won't be in until next week.

im a bit lost, left to right seating position?
i think the new bars are going to moved backwards about 6", I marked up where the bucket side mounts used to line up to, so I will have the new bars put in place to suit their positioning.
steering rack height wise I'm not sure about as yet, I shall see how that feels once the seats are back in place, but I have bought a steering wheel spacer/quick release to adjust the wheel closer to me.

i shall report back in a few days once a bit more takes shape.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
The trouble with just a normal spacer if you sit low is it moves the wheel upwards, if you space the column down from the shell though it moves it down and back.

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
That's what I was thinking, as its factory set with a mild upwards rake.
i shall have to have a look in to how to lower the rack :)

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Mike did it on his phase 1 and it made it a lot better when the seat was lower.

Ive done it on my mk1 but that column is different:

Well, you are CS royalty now I guess, just remember it doesnt work the same in the office etc, there you are just the weirdo with the old crap clio lol

What do you mean??? It was not so long I was approached here regarding an article on me for a internal magazine as a sort of interest piece (I was the one of three that they felt the most interesting finance could offer)

I asked why? She told me she had heard I build and race rally cars in my spare time….. lol

Seat bars finally arrived and now ready to go in next week.

spare pair of headlights sourced, completely stripped of everything bar the lense plastic fixing points.
given a light dusting in black, needs a couple of coats more but popped in to place to get an idea if its worth continuing.

I absolutely love the look of this! Exactly the same path as I'm taking with mine with the aircon removal and weight saving etc

The headlights look awesome like that too, tempted to do it with mine for track use to save weight and change the look a bit plus a cool air feed point direct to the air filter area.

Nice fella, as are all your motors and the unit! ;)
Watching with interest how you go about the seat rails etc as this is something I want to do.

The car is looking better everyday Kelv, not many people chopped about the sacred Trophy, your name will be dirt on ClioTrophy :p

Loving this Kelv. Where are the seat braces from and what did you pay?

He got them from Motorsport tools. Circa £50 and one of the best kits I have seen with the sliding captive nuts. I fitted them to my racecar.

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
As Morgan (Swede Cup) has mentioned seat rails came from Motorsport Tools, £39.95 per set, and £10.98 for delivery.

super helpfull guys that they are, personally can't rate them high enough.

You wouldn't want to see what's been chopped out of the inside of the Trophy tailgate :S

Nice idea the captives. So the rails are welded straight to the floor, then the side mounts bolt straight to the new rails.

Haven't really done a great deal the past day or so, hectic with other bits.

but i have removed the rear internal loom, taken out all wiring for things such as reverse lights and fog lights and removed the wiring back through to the main plugs behind the dash.
and while the back of the car is bare given it its first light coat of satin black paint.

and finished the headlights, now fitted :)

first steps of battery relocation, black box is a little wonky in the pic but is now straight and neat.

next it was off to a mates to have the seat bars welded into place, along with a brake fluid flush and geo reset again.

while the car was there, I finished off making my new control panel

the past few days since the car has been back has consisted of painting the rest of the cars floor, running the power cables to/from the isolation switch and securing them to the new battery position.
dash is now refitted after all of the other wiring alterations.

with the internal car loom removed, and everything towards the back of the car removed from the loom (reverse lights, fog lights, boot locks etc) i traced the wiring back up to the main plug, and while it was in pieces I set about covering the loom along the kick sill in a protective braid to give it more protection from clumsy feet climbing in and out of the car.
poor picture tho :(

picked up the door cards after having the electric window switches moulded in for a comfortable position when in the buck seat, and then dusted over in a satin black.

Looking good Kelv, you don't mess about.

Same question as Sonny, just what im needing it looks like a moulded blank. Any links?

What door cards is that you have too?

  Clio Trophy #343
Any chance of some pics of how the seats have been done? Mine are doe to be done this weekend too

Car is looking great mate

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
Sonny/Morgan, its just an old stereo blanking panel, I just used my step drill bit to get the holes to the right size after measuring up for each individual switch location, and I have my own labelling machine for the wording under each switch.
the panel itself was pretty secure when clipped in to place, but I have put a little double sided tape in each corner to give it that bit more stability.
actually, with the 2 power cables coming to the isolation switch, and how they are secured behind the dash, that also helps to hold the panel perfectly in its position.

the door cards are a 4 piece kit, originally a K-Tec bit of kit but purchased off another forum user when he changed his plans, still brand new and unused when I got them.
did a little mock up for the switch positioning and then give them to a good mate to have the switches moulded in to place, and blown over with the satin black finish.

seat rails are pretty straight forward, ill get a picture or two before the drivers seat goes in to place later in the day.

Ahrite okay, they look differ t to ktec maybe because of the finish you have on them, how am heavy are they compared to a sheet of plastic would you say.

Quick pic of how I done my seat bars, not the best pic.

careful with seat position to as I had to dent the tunnel to fit how I wanted.

Pics are great, thxnks swede and kelc and As many pics as possible would be great, I only have the fabby for the weekend as he goes back to work and I won't see him then before Coombe :)

am I correct in thinking what you have done is weld two bars next to the original seat mounts then then added holes for seat location?

have you had to adjust the column or at that height is it still suitable?

thanks again and are either of you at the action day at the end of this month?

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
Rich, if you look at Swede's first picture, you will see the little plates that attach to the bar, these have a floating nut within them that you fix the seat side mounts to.

the original seat bars in mine gave been removed, leaving only the new seat bars in the position that is required.

currently, I have left my seats a couple of notches higher than where I plan to have them long term, reason being is i have my next trackday in 3 days time, still have a fair amount to achieve on the car and won't have time to look at adjusting the steering wheel height, when I do I shall lower the seats to suit.

i won't be at the action day.
im assuming Morgan won't be either due to distance and possibly being offshore at the time :(
