The Touareg has done me dirty. Think it’s jealous tbh

Got the Yeti back today. New clutch and Slave Cylinder along with 2 flushes of brake fluid. The DMF looked ok too so I took the gamble and kept it on, it's on 88k.

Car feels great to drive and the clutch feels so much better than before, I suspect the slave was on its way out for a while.

I've had to order a new drivers wing mirror glass as the old one has dropped off, looks like the previous owner had glued on a mirror plate and it's failed over time

Love a yeti. Fancy one someday, yeti or jimny

Got a thread but will throw my hat Into the ring.
My 3rd mqb car after the 3.5 vrs and cupra st300.
Best one of the lot, however the is38 turbo is miles better than this little is20. And dsg is great for everyday etc but jeez it doesn't half take the hot hatchness out of the car. For what I want though, it's close to perfect.
Went for a 7.5 gti performance over an R, just because gti is the original 'badge' and I think they look better than the R. Also love the tartan seats. The bigger turbo on the R was tempting but after my speeding ban I drive like a granny on the roads now, so would've been pointless. Doubt it'll see any track days too with the dsg lacking involvement.

They are great cars mate. Not the best looking thing on the road but it is great to drive and is a great all rounder.
All the car you'll ever need 🤣

Ref my last post.
I think it's either the EGR/EGR cooler/any of the associated gubbins.

Now, I need to take the whole top of the engine apart to even find out what actually is the issue. Alternatively, I could also just buy an EGR delete kit from Darkside.
Am I being an idiot?

Aren't Darkside parts just chineseium stuff with their logo on?

Going to look at an old T5 Caravelle on Friday, with the 2.5 5 Cylinder engine (174bhp, AXE).

Of course I’ve got in all a tizz after reading about worn camshafts, leaking injectors, leaking exhaust manifolds and all the other known issues with them. This one has low relative miles on it (106k) and has done very little miles in the last 5 years, (which is probably a bad thing).

I think I will look at it and check the service history, 10k mile oil changes would be reassuring. It’s going to be a weekend camper thing for us, so not relying on it, but at the same time can’t be arsed ripping it apart (well, not straight away)

Has anyone on here got any sage words of advice on these? Looking on the Dubber forums it’s all doom and gloom.

Had another sensor fail on my A4 yesterday - this time it was the brake vacuum sensor.

The Car advised me to continue driving, so I did. When I got some, I ddi some research and came across a number of horror stories from people who helped driving and ended up with a bricked ABS module and a 3K bill to repair! Seems like this is a pretty common issue on the B9.

After reading that Audi quotes £300+ to replace the sensor, including the diagnostics, I ordered a £15 part from Amazon which just arrived. Took 2 minutes to install and everything is working perfectly again.

£285 saved ... straight into the beer fund!

See how long it lasts.

Don't think i'd trust a £15 sensor from Amazon.

The genuine Audi map sensors are about £100 aren't they?

They are identical with VAG coding / text / logos etc so could well be the same part. They seem to be the one that everyone goes for ... I think Audi sell them for £75 ish.

Cheap enough to replace if it goes again ...!

Main dealers such a fuckin rip off!

I asked a price on a replacement key for 2015 polo blue GT (just for ref)
Sometimes didn’t lock or unlock)

As you can't buy the button pad alone from vw

£364 for key and £79 to code it 🤣🤣🤣

7 quid button pad from Ebay exact same a original one

Sorted.

Defo. Our family Nissan Juke (yeah, I know) has had an ebay bad boy MAP sensor on it and it's lasted 5 mins. Defo worth paying the extra for genuine.

Will see how this one goes, i'm sure this sensor is exactly the same as the one Audi would sell me ... same manufacture etc just without the Audi tax included!

I am chasing a bad smell, a bit like stale urine, in my C7 A6. So far, I’ve checked:
  • Cabin filter, was relatively young, replaced with new anyway
  • AC unit drain, clean and clear, drains to the floor nicely, flushed regardless, water coming out is clear and odour free
  • Cabin intake on the scuttle and the surrounding area, no dead rodents or anything
  • Recirc valve opens and closes as it should, no obvious scent in the surrounding area
  • Run 3x disinfectant bombs over the last few weeks
  • No signs of entry / death of rodents in the car - the car is kept extremely clean
  • No kids mess in the back
  • Smell seems to come from the vents themselves on the dash, and seems to be worse if the car has been sat in the sun. But it’s not every time.
Any help or suggestions very welcome!

Have you tried sticking your nose in the washer bottle?
