I'm struggling to work out...

...If I should go for:

a) A 65k, W-plate, £2500 Phase 1 that needs a cambelt and wheel refurb (£700-ish) that appears to have been well maintained (FSH, lots of receipts, lots of preventative maintenance).

AND

b) A 84k, 53-plate, £3300 Cup that has a FDSH but has very minor cosmetic damage (£200 to sort).

My thoughts are to go with the Cup due to better resale value (newer car and all that!), but I just can't shake the urge to get a Ph1 with the toys.

What will you want the car for?

If you want a sort of track car, then go for the Ph1. If it's your everyday car, the cup

It'll be an everyday car and weekend plaything - replacing the Elise as a track car too (can't afford the ST family wagon, a Clio AND the Elise!)

Been looking at Cups up to about £4k and this is one of the better ones TBH.

On the evidence of my last few months searching, some people really treat their cars like $hit!
