RIP Trophy 433/500

  5 GTT & Orb'd Trophy
Cheers Danny.

I've not logged on Kev, not done for a year or so now. I can hear them sharpening their pitchforks though.

Why would we be doing that? I can't see the reaction being any different than here if not more sympathetic, at least you don't get the circling vultures over there. Anyway shame.

Thanks all. Courtesy car arrived, I'm having a beer and trying to just forget about today.

I'm just jesting mate. I can't really hear the sharpening ;)

Pretty shitty mate :( Always remember being told by someone when talking about my favourite road "you only know the shape of the tarmac, you don't know whats on it" Always stuck with. Still drive too quickly to always be able to stop in the visible distance but less so probably.

The only lesson that I'd give out is that no matter how well you think you know a road, you really can't predict what's around a corner. No one can.

Anyway, I'm ok, the other driver's ok and car's can be replaced. Fin.

thats the main thing, its only metal end of the day! thats true well said!

I had a similar thing happen to me but thankfully managed to stop, would have been nice for any of the cars coming the other way to give a flash to warn of something round the next blind corner.

On more than a few occasions I've stuck my arm out the window and done the slowing down sign to oncoming traffic when there's something they should be aware of.

Generally get a wave/flash in acknowledgement but got the bird from a hastily driven Saxo the other day.

As said though, repeat these thoughts ad infinitum as you're driving...

What can I see?

What can't I see?

What could I reasonably expect to happen?

Hi Luke-

real bad news there-

You never know there 'COULD' be a silver lining if you buy it back-
either way best of luck.

I have a silver 172 over at James having a few bits done, will be finished next week if you need a car to borrow

Sorry to hear that mate. Glad your okay.

This happens to everyone at least once in their driving lifetime. The main thing is you walked away, some don't.

The Trophy is becoming more and more rare. Beautiful cars.

oh no this is terrible news :( glad you are OK, but having a crash is a horrible feeling.

Did this trophy used to belong to Jay200 on here, i am sure i recognise the numberplate, if so i used to drive past this car almost every day and it was in fantastic condition.

Thanks Steve, appreciate it mate. May well be in touch if the claim isn't settled before my courtesy car gets sent back.

Indeed it did Alan, good eyes. Sir_Dave bought it from Jay and I bought it from Dave, and like to think it continued to look immaculate. I'd just got it back from the bodyshop from it's yearly front end respray ffs :( If you have a look through my previous pic threads you'll see it's condition, it really was mint.

Just been to collect the tax disk from it now. Bye car :dapprove:

Luke, who do use for respray? As you know the T seems to suffer quite badly and even though mine is low mileage it needs some tlc bonnet wise. A body shop that you are prepared to go back to again and again is pretty valuable and you are quite close.

Just read this luke and im totally gutted for you.

Nothing worse than ditching your pride and joy but the main thing is that you are ok and that you walked away from it.

I hope everything works out ok for you

Really gutted for you mate, glad you're ok though.

Luke mate can't believe it. Really sorry for you but as others say a car is replaceable a life isn't.

Had something similar happen to me a few years back in my Escort GTi. Came round a corner and a car had stopped as a dustbin lorry had pulled over onto the wrong side of the road and stopped to pick up bins. This was a country lane and I ploughed into the back of a Rover 200. We were both okay and I wrote off both cars. two days after the accident I had a visit from the police and they interviewed me for dangerous driving as the witness, the dustbin lorry driver, had seen me in his mirrors tearing around the bend out of control. The only thing that got me off was the testimony of the woman I hit who confirmed that the dustbin lorry was facing us and therefore the lorry driver's evidence was dismissed. But as you will find in your case the lorry driver will not be responsible as someone else had managed to stop in time you didn't.

Hope it turns out right for you and I'll forget you ever said anything about setting fire to it on Saturday ;).

Sorry to see mate, was one of my favourites. Hope you sort something out soon.

I think if I were to crash it would be going into the back of someone from traffic stopping suddenly when I least expect it, had a couple of near misses

Thanks gents. Pete, that sounds scarily similar!

Hi mate, I'll forward the details of the company I use tomorrow when I'm off tapatalk. They're not cheap, but they're very, very good.

Really gutted for you mate, glad you're ok though.

:( :( :(

Cheers mate, yeah I guess that's the main thing really. That picture makes me sad, would have been sooo much easier selling it.

Perhaps you can get a rb one now? Trade up so to speak?

Lol! Capsicum is s**t, FYI ;-)

On a serious note, I now have 0NCB and a claim to my name, so I'll be driving something pony for a while. I don't mind tbh, this whole thing has put me off cars. I can't tell you how nice it is driving a slow courtesy car; I'm not constantly worrying about new noises/rattles and stonechips.

Certainly not the HGV drivers fault..

You hit the car in front of you, not the other way about.

Accidents happen, we live in the real world and share thousands of miles of roads with millions on other cars..

Don't beat yourself up dude, you're unhurt, that's the main thing.

:)
