Transportation isn't the end of the world. MK isn't THAT far away... lol!

I'm sure we'll manage it mate.

Have you been to MK though? It's like the Matrix. Piss easy to get sucked into a roundabout and never come back.

That's what I'm aiming to do Chip. Fingers crossed.

Happy days Rob. Only problem is that it's in Milton Keynes atm, so would need to get it transported.

I was pretty shocked too Chip! They haven't confirmed the Cat status yet, but judging by the fact that they're even disclosing to me then I guess it's CAT C. Aside from the valuations, they've been ok so far. I'll not drop any big insurance terms until they start to irritate me ;)

As long as all four wheels move i'll recover it for you for as cheap as I can.

Just because its you. x

Devastated for you pal. Never seen it in the flesh but it looked perfect!

I nearly had a similar situation a couple of months back. Was driving round a double S bend local to me (like a d**k admittedly), and there was some roadworks round the corner that I didn't know about. Cut a long story short - our lights were on red and there were cars waiting for the lights to change, that I didn't see until they were pretty much directly in front of me, so I slammed on and locked up - luckily I managed to go onto the wrong side of the road, as there was no oncoming traffic, to avoid smashing into the cars waiting for the lights. I've learnt my lesson though now!

Hope you get things sorted soon :)

Glass/CAP makes no odds, its ACTUAL market value I convinced them to go by with my E30.

You miss my point, again. If Glass' had been higher he could have used that. I got a friend £2600 for an 03 plate C3. It was worth about £750. The fact is go to court and Glass' guide can reign supreme.

Insurance companies do differ though of course. Co-op for eg use Glass' in 99% of cases.

:(

Gutted for you mate. Properly properly gutted.
I've not read through all 11 pages, but the main thing is you're alright - I imagine it could have been so much worse! And a Trophy is only a bit of metal... easily replaced.

Looking through some old photos I found these when I was a pro photographer back in 'Nam.

Obviously this is a lie, the photos are AWFUL. Think this was pre D-SLR days...

I got paid out double what Glass said in the example I mentioned mate.

In court they will actually take notice of stuff like adverts to a certain extent (but bear in mind of course what something is advertise for isnt what it will sell for, like the 1.5K trophy engine on ebay, lol) but also worth having with you is written statements from other owners that have bought recently saying what they paid.

Discussing this weekend mate, value in parts should see you a tidy return in all honesty. Some of their early valuations are laughable though.

Thought I'd update this for those of you interested. Insurance are offering a final valuation of £3750 unfortunately; which realisticaly, taking away the excess and scrap value, is only £500 more than initially offered, and I really can't see me getting more than that from them. I'm just having a look around the internet for some examples currently, as that's what the manager at Admiral has been basing his valuations on. The good news is, it looks like I can buy it back to break or sell on, so look out for that.

Was the value not agreed? I've had to give a value for the last 3 years, so Shirley if it's written off they offer that value?

But you couldn't replace yours for that price could you?

Are they differentiating between trophy and 182?

It was insured at a valuation of £5000 mate, but it wasn't an agreed valuation policy. Most policies aren't, unless you find a specialist that is willing to offer an agreed valuation in the event of a total loss at inception. Classic car polices are a good example of this; obviously, a lot of classics on the road are worth a hell of a lot more than their £500 and less Glasses value, so they agree a valuation with the insurer and they provide the appropriate premium.

But now, with me, because I can't find an example at the same milage for what I want for it they're offering less. f**king Trophy's getting cheap :(

I've tried my best mate. I've explained the primciple of indemnity (oh yes I did), but they're having none of it. I've not accepted anything yet but for the sake of £500 I really don't think I can be arsed anymore. Before I accept anything I want an absolute guarentee in writing that I'll be able to buy the car back.

I did question that actually, but he said he's only looking at Trophy's. I questioned him once again after he said, 'I have a black one here going for £4850 on 27k'...but he now says he's taken that one off his listed examples.

Just in case anyone's interested, they're basing the valuation on the below vehicles:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../radius/1500/page/1/postcode/rg29dr?logcode=p

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../radius/1500/page/1/postcode/rg29dr?logcode=p

Genuinely don't think I've got a chance of getting more. Mine was on 90k, in immaculate condition but regardless, they're only fussed about milage. The reciepts I have for last month count for f**k all apparently, due to it being maintainance.

As above Mike, they couldn't care less about condition really. Just milage. Pretty gutted really, I'm just hoping not to get many messers when it gets broken.

The lower mileage one looks a decent buy, would have to see it though. Surprised at how cheap they are.

If you do break it, I'd be interested in the dampers

You and me both mate.

I'll let you know about the car dude, I've already had tonnes of PM's about the dampers lol!

Lol, imagine that.

'Mr. Marr, there appears to have been a mistake. The value of 90,000 mile Trophy's has risen 100%. Even more strange, the adverts went all went up one the same day, within 5 minutes of each other...'

It's a foolproof plan.

Although..."Mr. Marr, we noticed all these cars have a 'cliosport.net' tax disc holder similar to yours. We had a browse on the site and found a thread called 'RIP Trophy 433/500'. You wouldn't happen to know anything about this would you?"

To be fair with that payout and the money you'll make from breaking it you'll be up more than you would after selling it. Just a shame the insurance will go up at renewal.

Bad luck luke :(

Insurance companies are always a nightmare. Haven't noticed from the thread whether it was an economical write off or too dangerous to repair?

I 'wrote off' my cup in January. But as my father owns his own vehicle repair business we were given money in lieu minus the cost to get the car back. We repaired the car and as it was repaired by a business that allowed us to avoid the category status and it has just gone down as an insurance claim.

Just another thing to add to the mix :)

Jon

Also noticed you're from reading, I'm not far from you. Where abouts did it happen?

Frustrating buddy. I am sure you will make a really good chunk back from the Trophy parts. Obviously some of us won't mess you around!

<3 Luke.

That's mental Luke. I'd call them on it, sounds like you're being f**ked TBH.

Turns out that one of the vehicles (the 77k one) is a proper shed. TomSX went and viewed it yesterday, thread in the AT/PH section. Looking at the Trophy forum, it also appeared to have more miles when it was up for sale in March...

I'm still disappointed with the valuation, so will be challanging it again today. I'd take 4k, just to get it all over with.

Bad luck luke :(

Thanks Jon. I haven't actually had the catagory of write off confirmed to me yet, but the scrap valuation they're currently offering is based on D. This should drop to C, so hopefully will be able to buy it back for a little less.

I won't be repairing it myself. I can't be bothered, and it will be worth sod all, lol. So will be either broken or sold as is :)

It happened over in Swallowfield, if you know the area mate? Only five minutes from my house.

Thanks Dave :)

It's frustrating but you can see their point. They just base it on what they can find.

Get that value. Buy it back. You'll be quite a bit up had you ever sold it.

You can fight with them for months, comes to a point where it's best to just cut your losses and take what they offer mate.

Then buy something good. Or a Ph1.

True Dan. Can 100% see where they're coming from, but working in insurance myself (not claims, may I add, lol) I hate feeling as though they're currently mugging me off. I pay a premium for them to put me back in the same financial situation that I was prior to an accident, why should they be allowed to get away with paying out the lowest that they possibly can?

I'm going to see an mx5 tonight  Mk2, too, so thuper gay.
