The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

Off topic but: You sold the Clio? (why were you anyway)

I bought an astra vxr so the clio was going. Couldn't get on with it. So bro had it off me and kept clio ! Vxr a lot quicker but absolutely no character.

Spent a bit on clio last few days to get it up to standards again

Cheers @McGerkin. Was considering this for my next mod but don't think I'll bother. I'm not that desperate for a bit of shiny pipe

So the sound is a plus. I'm tempted just to get one to see for myself

Are people still having problems with dirt entering the manifold?

10/10 would agree again :)

Shiny pipe? Use heatwrap or silicone and shinyness solved...

While the cambelt was being done, the gearbox was removed to be refurbed and had a new clutch fitted, so it made sense to remove a lot of parts and have them painted at the same time.

Well I gave in and purchased a fatty kit. A bit of test fitting tonight looks like it's going to be tight

At the weekend I'll remove the acoustic valve and fit this

I've had to remove mine. Fitted a new battery which is slighlty bigger than the original so now there's no room for the pipe to pass between the battery and bodywork.

Might take a hacksaw to it at the weekend though as I miss the noise

Ordered this for my 172 cup , does the filter need to be oiled ? Filter has turned up but no mention of oiling it in the paperwork

I think so mate. Mine seems pretty dry so as a precaution it's probably worth doing just to be on the safe side

I still run mine, sound is awesome and never had a problem! They come pre-oiled purchased mine November last year and havent oiled since and its fine could probs do with a clean tho!

Am I correct in saying that the elbow and the filter should just match up and are held together with the clip instead of them fitting inside one another?

It is louder. And tbh the fatty kit is £40, second hand ktecs are £100, I'd stump the money up and buy the latter if noise is a concern. But both are good

Cannot wait to fit my fatty kit this weekend. Only thing stopping me during the week is the removal of the acoustic valve otherwise it would have been on by now

^because I have no idea what I'm doing

Also any particular steps to remove the airbox or is it fairly simple?

Ktec one is definitely louder but you can make your own that looks very similar (black pipes, black clips, black filter, black paint if you can't get the black stuff) for around £60 which is noticeable cheaper than ktecs.

Ok, so airbox has been removed. Next issue is how to get the hose and the end of the filter to attach!
The hose is a good few mm smaller than the end of the filter. I thought this would have been the other way around?
