p.s. goes like stink tho, wich is nice!
ive jsut stuck my freshly rebuilt williams engine in my 19 16v. its done 600miles now, and am a little concerned about its fuel economy;
22mpg around town
28-30max mpg at steady 70mph
i used to manage 40mpg regulalry with my 1.8 at 80mph. at the moment its costing me a poacket in fuel...
wats the maximum amount i could skim the f7p head by to increase the compression ratio. is it possible to increase it to 11:1 jsut by head skim or wud high comp pistons be needed?
i no the need for 98ron fuel wud be needed, but i run that anyways.

theres a wrecked laguna v6 at my local breakers, and the master cylinder on that is a bit beefier than the 16v verison. the 16v pisotn size is 20.4mm, whereas the lag v6 piston size is 23.4mm. i assume this would provide a harder pedal and less movement of pedal to brake rite? wud this fit the...
ok, earlier this week i fitted some 17inch chrome alloys to my valver. compared to my standard 15inch alloys, the weight difference wasnt that great. driving around town roads upto 50mph, there is no difference in perfromance, other than amazing cornering ability due to the increased offset- et...

after coughing up 215quid for kent cam regrinds and lube(kent sports injection cams) for the 16v, and spedning all afternoon fitting them, ive gota say im unsure as to what to think. contrary to what others have said, the idle with these cams installed is complety fine, runs jsut a smooth as b4...

ok, rite, heres a challenge to see who has the fastest car on the board. im not talking 0-60, im talking real driving conditons. heres the challenge;
get from a steady 40mph to 70mph as fast as u can. but make sure u do it from a steady 40mph, not accelerating thru it. this is to simulate...

jsut been reading some french websites about the renault 19 16v/s when they were launched back in 1990. this was before they had cat laws in france, so the origianl ones came without cats, the power outputs were;
140bhp @ 6500rpm
121lb/ft torque @ 4500rpm
bhps not up much, but the torque...
ok, rite, cus im a poor student, and i cant afford the 300quid for a full stainless exhasut for my 19, ive been looking at mild steel systems. my curretn standard zorst has lasted me 3 years, but its showing tis age now-not got long left. anyway, so far the best deal ive seen has been a peco...
ok rite, ive always been led to believe, that for an engine to perfrom well, it needs a certain amount of back pressure to operate well, give good fuel economy. and that by decreasing back pressure, the engine loses torque, etc.
having been reading up on it on the web, ive seen sites saying...
does anyone know where i can buy new car carpet? im thinking some williams blue carpet would work a treat. jsut cant find anywhere that sells vehucle carpet
jimbo
anybody seen these in the flesh? got one, seen any power gains? im thinking of buying one for my beast, along with decat pipe. looks brilliant from the pics on there site
jimbo
if you want better emissions from your beast, maybe a bit more power, then you need an oil catch tank. on normal engines, the crnak case emissions are fed directly back into the engine to be burnt off. but this contaisn oil fumes, which clog up the inlet tracts and coats the pistons in oily...
hey nick, the piper cams your using in ur clio 16v, wer they reground cams or produced from blanks? they are the 276degree jobbies arnt they? wats the max power produced at now-passed 7k revs? cheers
jimbo
ok, the beast is finally road worthy, after being off the road for four months, having the entire abs sytem ditched and fitting a new rack-its really easy to remove the 16v engine! took me 1hr 30mins at one stage to remove it complete.
anyway, the bottom end has got 126k on the clock now...
