AlexW's Driveway Antics :)

  Many.
Good progress being made! :)

I did chuckle at the 'clio graveyard' materialising on the driveway. Bet the neighbours love it ;)

I do get a bit worried when I look outside and all I can see is Clios, mostly broken. Luckily I do have fairly understanding neighbours, except one or two, but I've only had comments when theres been too many cars around (parked out on the street, that day I had 9 here), I do keep quiet!

Alex , how much you wanting for the dci as it is now?
i have idea as I've just got another smashed up golf that I've worked out is going to cost way to much to repair VS selling rates

I'm going to repair it, mostly because I know I'll make more money from it that way, and its money I want to put towards a motorbike. Plus I can drive it for a couple of weeks while I do some much needed maintence on mine.

Haha, that inferno really is minging!

Truely is, I had completely forgotten as the interior has been burried under loads of stuff, wasn't until I sat in it today I realised how bloody bad it is.

Hopefully get it clean Friday/this weekend. Its turned into a busy week/weekend!

The work never stops your end ! Interesting read this thread.

I've had the cap off the gearbox, your right 5th gear was interesting to see, I have everything needed now when your ready mate, no rush at all though just need to find a nice warm weekend to swap the box over when your free :)

Nice box turned up this morning from Adam @ Renault Wolverhamton. Love these parcels, although they do cost too much and turn up too often.

Had Friday off due to having manflu, and then did very little over the weekend, I didn't feel up to doing too much at all, Luckily I had booked today off a couple of weeks ago.

I did get the interior sorted out, but have no pictures, probably the cleanest clio interior I've ever had.

Changed the exhaust mount, reminded me of a couple of girls.

Also changed the rear mounts, one was the worst I've ever seen...

Replaced those with new mounts filled with mastic shiz.

Also changed the blowing cat/mani gasket.

Not much left to do now, need to change spring(s), CV boots and a few little things, but I should be able to MOT it next week at last.

Might get something done on the Black DCi today now.

ABS
Airbag
Stop
Serv
EML

Sorted the EML out (lambda connector). The Airbag is where k-tec haven't done a good enough job first time around.

So dash is coming up, clocks out and ABS and Airbag lights disappearing ;)

Awesomenesss. I told ya the lambda was the issue.

Get the airbags programmed out, If you get it done, and at the Ace tonight, I'll see if I can remember to bring the laptop and I can program them out.

Hopefully cup dials will fix the rest :)

Spent the evening removing some more bits from the DCi...

Plan is to remove the engine, check condition of the crank, then go from there.

So I need to remove the stupid ECU cover, and the battery box etc, gear linkage, drive shafts and gearbox mounts, then it should come out. I'll be borrowing a engine hoist, as I cba to take the subframe etc off.

Had a couple of laughs while stripping it, firstly being the rad fan not plugged in, secondly the water in the intercooler, have a video of that which I'll upload later.

Hopefully get it out before the weekend, we'll see.

  clio dci , ren8
Great progress ,who the hell deigned that ecu cover that Renault thought was so important ? causes hours of fun at work then you get another that just falls off lol

Got the DCi moved yesterday, so have been able to crack on with it, then tonight, borrowed my mates engine hoist...

Alex you got any horns spare? I need one lol

I do actually buddy. Yours free.

Spent 5mins this morning stripping the engine, gearbox off, clutch out (to check condition, replacing anyway), few other bits removed before the sump...

Even an idiot can spot the issue here...

lol I did good then :)

lol, The flood did good.

@ AlexW you are a magician

Dunno about that lol

Can I come get my handbrake cable and skoda splitter you still have of mine?

LOL asking on cliosport, yes?

Lol good going. Use a genuine head gasket Alex. I've used after parts ones and they are s**t!

Will bare this in mind, means another parts order from Renault lol. Mind how much it is? If I used pattern it'd be Payen, had any experiance?

Joe you are deluded, you drowned your car then got a corsa! How did you do good? ;)

x

I have to agree here lol

Its was less than the belt kit I think. Can't dig out the paperwork as at GF's.
Hmmm , never used a payed one on a 1.5 but I did on a 1.9. Was alright.

The genuine one for the 1.5 is ment to be a hefty old brute.

Tis only a warning as three types of non genuines Ive used have come back from failing.
Only one of them had a head skim (7though max skim or it's decompression gasket time )

Your autocorrect is funny.

I'll look into it Monday when I order the rest of the stuff, if you get time to see how much it is in the mean time, that would be very much appricated dude.
I imagine it'd be fine from Payen, used them on every engine I've ever built, and thats been a few!

I don't intend to skim this head, its not got hot, and appears okay, but I'll strip it down to make sure its all fine anyway. I doubt I'd take 7thou off lol.

Plan to get it all built up this week, and then back in next weekend if I get time.

f**king iPad auto s**t lol

Will dig it out tommorow mate,
cant really comment on the Payne gaskets. I've only used one pmsl, all the rest have been genuines.

Using new headbolts?

Haha , the only reason I needed 7 though off is I cooked my first ever engine in tuning error + fucked set of injectors.
Went like a rocket on a decompression gasket mind :p
