ive took the one off the megane courtesy car at work. also that engine looks like evey other 1.9.... covered in oil and engine cover foam s**t !

Thats the air cut off valve iirc. Can get a new seal for them.

I was under the impression it's to help when turning the engine off for some reason. I may be wrong but I'm sure that's what I was told.

its open/closed til the vac builds up, then the little diaphragm thing adjusts the angle of the flap.
i actaully dont know properly what its ment to do. other than i think its like swirl flaps in a BMW derv engine. all smooth running buls**t.

Sounds pretty gay. I guess it must be naturally open? Deffo sounds like it has a boost leak, so probs missing out on some power there! Plus it smokes a bit.
i would say so. i didnt play much attention to it, i just ripped it off whilst i was doing the egr blank. dont forget you now have a VNT turbo. i thought the meggy had a leak but its just the vnt noise. little smoke is probs all the s**t built up over the years from the egr/ turbo/cat.
good thrashing will sort that ( like you havent allready )

Tools are the same. Of course I've never done a belt but I remember the kit being advertised for both.
Belts the same but you have to lock the pump up aswell.
Its more easy than the 1.5 lol

That pk6 box will handle near 400Nm of torque
I should know as someone's got a lag' estate dci 1.9 on TDOCUK running that with bmw parts / pd 150 manifold ( made to fit ) and some rather special turbo
Tiu can probably f**k most of the pipe work off tbh. Run them nicely routed.
I keep looking at the dti 1.9s do tempting to mechanical injection on in a Clio .....
