Best Coilovers Part 3

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

I e-mailed BB tuning after all ur advice (K-Tec dont seem to do the Gaz set) and got a reply saying they came with 250lb springs!

I thought a few peeps who had them said they came with 200lb springs which were too stiff and had got 175 & 180lb springs instead!

So what is BB on about? Im waiting for a rep on wether they can supply with 175 or 180lb springs. Have we decided that the 175s are best for use as an everyday car? Cheers.

i still dont see why you dont try for yourself.....

If its too harsh, get some other springs. 2.25" springs are cheap and can be had from many race part suppliers

U r being paid FAR too much! Get me a job thatll earn me enough to do that & i will! I aint fitting them myself so would rather save myself at least a ton & get the best springs the first time!

im am more then happy witht he set-up in my car, i am yet to be in a car that handles better, it isnt amazing for accelerating through corners but for holding speed through them and powering out it is amazing! i can go into a corner very fast and come out of it even faster but if i go in slow and try and power round(rather then just power out) then it does get a bit messy! its almost as though the car is on the limit, it wont give you any warning and will just lose grip. one second your flying round the next your flying off!

Mikey get em from Dampertech, 5% discount an they will supply ANY lb springs you like

job done

I dunn o how you guys are pootling about on such soft springs!

175lbs/"!!!!

my fezzy runs soft 210s up front and 190s rear, and its still supple. The car only weighs 850kg!

Read about that Imp that weighs 680kg in CCC, 800lbs on the rear and 500 on the front.

i must have been told the wrong spring rating on my springs. with the 200lb springs my car would jump off the ground if i went over a bump ANDi couldnt make any adjustments of damping because the springs were far too hard! even with 175lb springs i think the ride is far too harsh on the car!

nope, mine still bottoms out with about 2" of travel.

No coilovers on my 16V, no need yet.....well see how it goes on the track first. And if i do, ill save up for the ledas.....just to see.

im saying its wrong, its just what i have experienced.

If K-Tec say the 175lbs should be alright & they can beat Dampertechs price of 450 including VAT and delivery then ill order from them as they should sort me out if i have problems with the spring rates.

Do Clio 16vs have VERY strong standard shocks? As this would account for having only 175lb as opposed to BBs 250lb springs on wouldnt it?

iam still waiting for my 180lb springs will let you know wen they arrive i can probaly get you a set of gaz shocks for about £360 with any springs email mailto:phatnova24@hotmail.com">phatnova24@hotmail.com

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to your email - we are very behind and have a lot to get through.

The coilover kit we supply for the 5 comes with 250 LB, this is the same for the AVO kit so im also confused.

regards Andy

Humm, have BB just got it wrong? Cheers.
