My first time. Looking forward to it. In Pistonheads campsite. Got some cool stuff booked for me and James like a Helicopter ride where they pick up the lead car and follow around the track for a lap. Got Start/finish grandstand seats and some else where on some corner section so can watch the pits and stuff as well as racing and the buildup.

bet we spend 99% of time in PH bar watching on Tv and getting bladdered though!

Good stuff Porkie I've got James number so I'll text when we're over there, see if we can hook up for a beer. Make sure you allow time for the pit walk and to walk some of the track after the race. We're on Houx again. You going to the Pistonheads Mad Friday service? Last years was brilliant. :)

Yes!! Le Mans ftw! We're heading down, group of 8 of us.... but we're not doing it conventionally this time. After 6 previous visits where we've driven the whole way, 4 of our little group (including me) are going to cycle most of the way over 3 days. So, we'll be arriving there on the thursday evening by our own leg power!

Then, 3 days of drinking and watching fast cars, can't wait! We're just in Beasejour campsite, think we'll cycle some of the track whilst we're there.... not sure we can afford the helicopter.
 
Been busy sourcing bits for mine while its in pieces, Chip has kindly sorted me out with a ph1 head that is going to ALD for a clean up, headwork and assembling with a set of Supertech valves and PAC valve springs, then managed to get a great condition set of 423 non vvt from Dan@519 at the weekend so they are going in my current engine along with a swap to some megane rods I bought a while ago. Coupled to a 0.85mm head gasket to push the CR up a little more than last year should see the car making a nice bit of power and work in a good range for the gearbox.

Talking of the gearbox Gripper have been fabulous and have the box stripped down and started to remedy it, they offered me a very quick solution but it would involve have a lower top speed which would be too much of a compromise so i’m holding out for them to make me another CW+P. In the meantime they are kindly sorting me out with a diff into a standard box to get me out. Very impressed with the way they are dealing with it so big thanks to them.

Just can’t wait to drive the car again but will probably be late June before the dog box and 423 engine goes back in the car but until then I will have a 421’d std’ish engine with the gripper diff so should still be good fun and a bit more practical for driving over to Le Mans!

Great to hear how good Gripper are being with the gearbox issues, not many companies would go to this extent to repair something, especially given that it's a motorsport part. Definitely wouldn't get that service from Sadev!

This is going to be flying machine, hopefully you've had all your bad luck now and you get some reliability from it.

James, just dumping it here so you can find it again, the dates for the ring I was on about are:

Thurs 28th Aug : Evening
Fri 29th Aug : Evening
Sat 30th Aug : Evening
Sun 31st Aug : Full Day


So was thinking fairly early start on the thurs and drive over to arrive at about 3pm or so in time for a Pinocchio's before the track opens, then onto the track for the evening.
Go up the castle for a bit of sightseeing on the friday the ring in evening, do some karting on the sat then ring in the evening, then full day at the ring sunday, and then head back monday.


Prob stay at that hotel next to Sabine that Lee stays at when he is slumming it, or at the Zurburg again, as my pockets dont really stretch to the casino hotel, lol.

Thanks mate :) i’m enjoying the constant evolution with the car and it being different everytime I drive it but faultless reliability is the aim now!
Do they know what caused the failure as yet?
Yes the pinion shaft that was custom made and thus made by a man on a lathe rather than CAD/CAM like their other shafts. The man on the lathe hadn’t radius’d something that he should of done which created a shear point :(

Yes will be good to see, the car will be getting mapped by RSTuning so will be the same dyno as your’s was done on I think Tom? I’m intrigued to see what power and torque it will make

Ive just got my head back from Andrew who also fitted my supertechs.

Hoping to fit it on saturday along with my 421s, im also getting mine mapped at RS tuning.

Looking forward to seeing your results James. :)

Clearing out my house that's sold and have my spare doors that are going to the scrap man unless someone wants to collect them? They are FOC collection from LS29 postcode :)
 
Its wrap although from memory one of the strips got grazed and I just re wrapped over it so they aren’t mint under. I’m afraid they all need to go as a whole so doors aswell need to go. Sorry just in a mad rush trying to get sorted out so thought if someone wants to collect them then it saves me a trip to the tip/scrapman
